Theft
06/22/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens)
on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male
concealed two bottles of laundry detergent inside a bag then left the
store without paying. The items were valued at $31.96. This incident is
under investigation.
06/22/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took
various bottles of hair care products, sun screen and lotions then left the
store without paying. The items were valued at $109.10. This incident is
under investigation.
06/22/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Theft from Auto from the area of Arlington Avenue. The
resident parked her vehicle in the building parking lot and when she
returned the following morning, she noticed it was rummaged through.
Two bags of clothing were missing from the trunk. The clothing was
valued at $550.00. This incident is under investigation.
06/22/2026-Jabril Boon age 36 of East Orange NJ. Officers responded
to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting.
Central Communications broadcasted that a male shoplifter just fled the
store. Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and placed him
under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
06/23/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took
Dunkin Donuts coffee pods then left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $105.84. This incident is under investigation.
06/23/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens)
on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male
concealed various facial products inside a bag then left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $462.79. This incident is under
investigation.
06/24/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took
various bath products then left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $541.41. This incident is under investigation.
06/25/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Broad Street on
report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle on the street
overnight and when he returned the following morning, he noticed it was
rummaged through. A sweatshirt and documents were missing from the
vehicle. This incident is under investigation.
06/26/2026-Abdull Kearney age 52 of Newark NJ and Aqil
Muhammad age 52 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 600
Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar General) on report of a Shoplifting.
Central Communications broadcasted that two males took batteries then
left the store without paying. The items were valued at $821.01. Officers
were able to locate the suspects nearby and placed them under arrest.
The suspects were transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be
processed accordingly.
06/26/2026-Officers responded to the area of MacArthur Avenue on
report of a Theft from Auto. The complainant parked his vehicle on the
street overnight and when he returned the following morning, he noticed
the door lock was broken. A hardhat was missing from the vehicle. This
incident is under investigation.
06/27/2026-Officers responded to the area of Barbara Street on report
of a Catalytic Converter Theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the
street overnight and when she returned the following morning, she heard
a loud exhaust sound coming from the vehicle. The resident then noticed
that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under
investigation.
06/27/2026-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, two
males filled a shopping cart with light switches, electrical outlets and
Milwaukee products then left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $5,499.00. This incident is under investigation.
06/27/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of
a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took various
cleaning products then left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $49.71. This incident is under investigation.
06/28/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took two pairs of sneakers then left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $159.98. This incident is under investigation.
06/28/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of
a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took various
grocery items then left the store without paying. The items were valued
at $21.56. This incident is under investigation.
06/28/2026-Vance Rouse age 56 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to
224 Bloomfield Avenue (Aldi) on report of a Shoplifting. According to
the Loss Prevention Officer, a male concealed various grocery items in a
reusable bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at
$117.17. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
06/27/2026-Officers responded to 72 Bloomfield Avenue (Sunoco) on
report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle
running and unlocked while he went to pick up food. He then observed
a male enter his vehicle and flee the parking lot. The vehicle, a black
2007 Acura RDX, was entered as stolen. This incident is under
investigation.
Burglary
06/22/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Burglary from the area of James Street. The resident left for
travel on 04/26/2026 and when he returned on 6/20/2026, he noticed his
closet was rummaged through. Several silver chains valued at $200.00
were missing. This incident is under investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
