Bloomfield Police Blotter: June 29, 2026 to July 5, 2026

Theft
06/29/2026-Wilman Avila age 37 of Elizabeth New Jersey. Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took health care items and medication then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $444.42. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

06/29/2026-Jermaine Rabb age 46 of Newark New Jersey. Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to store employee, a male took two bottles of detergent then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $38.26. Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed and accordingly.

06/29/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male concealed store merchandise in a tote bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $265.59. This incident is under investigation.

06/29/2026-Marvin Campbell age 45 of East Orange New Jersey. Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male placed items in his pockets then attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $82.91. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed and accordingly.

06/29/2026-Officers responded to the area of Prospect Street on report of a Package Theft. According to a resident, a male took a package from the porch then left the area. This incident is under investigation.

06/30/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took three pairs of sneakers then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $269.97. This incident is under investigation.

06/30/2026-Officers responded to 171 Bloomfield Avenue (Auto Zone) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male filled a backpack with store merchandise then left the store. This incident is under investigation.

07/02/2026-Officers responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-Eleven) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, four individuals took a phone charger then left the store without paying. The item was valued at $19.99. This incident is under investigation.

07/02/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male and female placed items into a shopping cart and placed it in an aisle for a period of time. One individual then took the shopping cart and left the store without paying for the items. This incident is under investigation.

07/05/2026-Carlos Batista age 37 of Newark New Jersey. Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male concealed items in a bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $129.98. Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed and accordingly.

07/05/2026-Officers responded to the area of North 13th Street on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident provided surveillance video of a male rummaging through two vehicles that were parked in his driveway. Both vehicles were left unlocked. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles at this time. This incident is under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Theft:
07/02/2026-Officers responded to the area of Chester Avenue and North 15th Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle unlocked and running while he went to pick up food. The complainant then observed his vehicle accelerate and leave the scene. The vehicle, a white 2009 Volkswagen GTI, was entered stolen. This incident is under investigation.

07/03/2026-Officers responded to the area of Davey Street on report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident noticed that the rear passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed and the dashboard was damaged. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles at this time. This incident is under investigation.

07/04/2026-Officers responded to the area of Alfred Lane on report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident noticed that the rear passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed and the dashboard and steering column were damaged. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles at this time. This incident is under investigation.

Burglary
07/02/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Burglary from the area of Coolidge Avenue. The resident stated that sometime between 06/15/2026 and 07/01/2026, someone entered a garage they are renting and took several power tools. The resident also noticed that the top lock was unlocked and the lower lock was loose. The items were valued at $3,636.00. This incident is under investigation.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
