Theft
07/20/2026-Officers responded to the area of Grove Street on report of
a Theft. The complainant reported that a male took his Apple Watch
from the desk in the front lobby of his office. The watch was valued at
$350.00. This incident is under investigation.
07/20/2026-Officers responded to 600 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar
General) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a
known and frequent shoplifter took detergent, shampoo and various
other items on 07/15/2026 and left the store without paying. This
incident is under investigation.
07/20/2026-Officers responded to 1409 Broad Street (ShopRite) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, an
individual concealed multiple packages of Nexium, Zantac, Flonase and
Prilosec in a bag then left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $1299.70. This incident is under investigation.
07/20/2026-Officers responded to the area of Golf Road on report of a
Theft from Auto. According to a resident, a male was rummaging
through her vehicle which was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was
left unlocked. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle. This
incident is under investigation.
07/20/2026-Officers responded to the area of North 15th Street on
report of a Package Theft. According to a resident, a male pulled up in
a beige sedan, walked up to her porch and took a package that was just
delivered. The package contained computer accessories valued at
$55.00. This incident is under investigation.
07/21/2026-Officers responded to 357 Broad Street (Quick Chek) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male placed
candy bars and Red Bull drinks in a bag attached to his walker then left
the store without paying. The items were valued at $158.16. This
incident is under investigation.
07/21/2026-Anthony King age 57 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee a male concealed candy in a bag then left
the store without paying. The items were valued at $225.00. Officers
located the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. The suspect was
transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed
accordingly.
07/21/2026-Dwayne Smith age 58 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 600 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar General) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male placed several items in a bag then
left the store without paying. The items were valued at $180.95. Officers
located the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest. The suspect was
transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed
accordingly.
07/21/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male and female concealed numerous baby clothing items in a Marshalls
bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $298.90.
This incident is under investigation.
07/21/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male filled a suitcase with clothing items then left the store without
paying for the suitcase or clothing. The items were valued at $513.45.
This incident is under investigation.
07/23/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male filled a suitcase with clothing items then left the store without
paying for the suitcase or clothing. The items were valued at $275.92.
This incident is under investigation.
07/23/2026-David Sanchez age 39 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to the store owner, a male placed a bottle of wine inside his
backpack then attempted to leave the store without paying. Officers
arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported
to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
07/23/2026-Officers responded to 1409 Broad Street (Shop Rite) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male concealed various cheese items inside his jacket then left the store
without paying. The male then entered a vehicle in the parking lot which
was captured on exterior surveillance cameras. This incident is under
investigation.
07/23/2026-Officers responded to 1409 Broad Street (Shop Rite) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male concealed various cheese items inside his jacket then left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $123.66. This incident is
under investigation.
07/24/2026-Jihaad Haskins age 30 of Newark NJ. While patrolling
the area of Arlington Avenue, Officers observed a Theft from Auto.
The officers observed a male open the driver’s side door of a vehicle and
begin rummaging through the interior. The vehicle did not belong to the
male. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield
Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
07/24/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Package Theft from the area of Division Street. According to
the resident, UPS delivered a package which contained men’s cologne.
The package was found opened then re-taped and the cologne was
missing. This incident is under investigation.
07/24/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female took a
tote bag from the display, placed paper towels in it, then left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $24.28. This incident is under
investigation.
07/25/2026-Ronald Pincay-Sailema age 42 of Newark NJ. Officers
responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Theft. The
complainant accidentally left her purse in a shopping cart and drove
away from the parking lot. When she returned to retrieve it, it was
missing. After reviewing surveillance video, Detectives were able to
locate the suspect. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged
accordingly.
07/26/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, two
males filled a paper bag with clothing items then left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $209.94. This incident is under
investigation.
07/26/2026-Kenya Johnson age 34 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female placed several items
in a shopping bag and attempted to leave the store without paying. The
items were valued at $62.96. Officers arrived and placed the suspect
under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

General) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a
male took items and left the store without paying. This incident is under
investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
07/20/2026-Officers responded to 147 Broad Street (Bloomfield
Presbyterian Church) on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The
complainant chained his Q-Like E-bike to a church sign across from the
high school. Video surveillance footage shows a male take the bike and
flee the area. This incident is under investigation.
Burglary
07/26/2026-Officers responded to 369 Bloomfield Avenue (Original
Deli Grocery) on report of a Burglary. When Officers arrived, they
noticed the front glass window was shattered and cigarettes and
condoms were missing from the counter. This incident is under
investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
