Theft
08/04/2026-Julio George age 44 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to
135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male took hand soap then left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $23.25. Officers arrived and
located the suspect. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported
to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/04/2026-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, on
08/01/2026, a male filled a shopping cart with various electrical items,
faucets and detergent then left the cart in the aisle. A second male then
entered the store, took the cart and left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $3845.82. This incident is under investigation.
08/04/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female took
Lysol wipes then left the store without paying. The items were valued at
$20.97. This incident is under investigation.
08/05/2026-Officers responded to the area of Royalton Place on report
of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle in his assigned
parking space overnight and the following morning he noticed the trunk
was open. A laptop, sneakers and cologne was missing from the vehicle.
This incident is under investigation.
08/06/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of
a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a juvenile male took
several bags of candy then left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $50.00. This incident is under investigation.
08/06/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of
a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took several
packages of razor blades then left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $65.00. This incident is under investigation.
08/06/2026-Officers responded to the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue
on report of an Attempt Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle
near the building overnight and the following morning he noticed it was
rummaged through. There was nothing reported missing from the
vehicle at this time. This incident is under investigation.
08/08/2026-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male filled a shopping cart full of groceries and attempted to leave the
store without paying. When the suspect was approached by the Loss
Prevention Officer, he left the cart behind and fled the store. This
incident is under investigation.
08/09/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
female took several pairs of socks then left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $118.93. This incident is under investigation.
08/09/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
female filled a duffel bag with multiple clothing items then left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $259.92. This incident is
under investigation.
Burglary
08/04/2026-Officers responded to the area of Prospect Street on report
of an Attempted Burglary. A resident provided surveillance video from
08/01/2026 of a male attempting to gain entry into the residence through
a window. The suspect broke the screen but was unable to gain entry.
This incident is under investigation.

08/02/2026 of a male attempting to gain entry into the residence through
the front door. The suspect was unable to gain entry. This incident is
under investigation.
08/08/2026-Officers responded to the area of Park Place on report of a
Burglary. A resident vacated his apartment in March 2026 due to a roof
collapse. He returned to his apartment on 07/11/2026 and left his
apartment door unlocked so that the construction crew could get in.
When he returned to the apartment on 08/08/2026, he noticed the
apartment was ransacked and items missing from the drawers. This
incident is under investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
