Theft
08/10/2026-Wayne Austin age 54 of East Orange NJ. Officers
responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took toilet paper and
cookies then left the store without paying. Officers arrived and located
the suspect nearby. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported
to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/10/2026-The Loss Prevention Officer responded to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to report a Shoplifting from 8-12 Franklin Street
(Marshalls). According to the Loss Prevention Officer, on 08/09/2026,
a female took three pairs of shoes then left the store without paying. The
items were valued at $104.97. This incident is under investigation.
08/12/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of
a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a female took several
grocery items then attempted to leave the store without paying. The store
manager confronted the female at the exit. The suspect then threw all the
items at the manager except for one package and fled the scene. This
incident is under investigation.
08/12/2026-Officers responded to the 600 block of Bloomfield Avenue
on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle in the lot
and was then advised by the property manager that the door was open
and the inside was rummaged through. There was nothing reported
missing from the vehicle at this time. This incident is under
investigation.
08/12/2026-Vance Rouse age 56 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to
135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male concealed various items in a bag
then left the store without paying. Officers responded and located the
suspect nearby. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to
Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/12/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to
report a Bicycle Theft from the area of Llewelyn Avenue. According
to the resident, two of his Trek mountain bikes were taken from behind
the garage of the residence sometime between 07/27/2026 and
08/12/2026. This incident is under investigation.
08/12/2026-Shamika Brown age 46 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a female concealed toilet paper, cleaning
products and a gift bag then left the store without paying. Officers
responded and located the suspect nearby. The suspect was placed under
arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed
accordingly.

to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male took laundry detergent then left
the store without paying. Officers responded and located the suspect
nearby. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to
Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/13/2026-Melinda Hoagland age 53. Officers responded to 135
Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a female took laundry detergent then left
the store without paying. Officers responded and located the suspect
nearby. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to
Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/13/2026-Officers responded to 1409 Broad Street (Shop Rite) on
report of a Theft. The complainant left his wallet on the service desk
then left the store. Upon returning to the store a short time later, he was
advised the wallet had not been turned in. The store manager reviewed
surveillance cameras which showed a female take the wallet and conceal
it in her bag. This incident is under investigation.
08/13/2026-The Loss Prevention Officer responded to Bloomfield Police
Headquarters to report a Shoplifting that occurred at 8-12 Franklin
Street (Marshalls) on 08/12/2026. According to the Loss Prevention
Officer, two males entered the store together. One of the males took six
pairs of shoes then left the store without paying. The second male
concealed three pairs of shoes in a backpack then left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $269.94. This incident is under
investigation.
08/13/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, two
males concealed several men’s t-shirts into Marshalls bags then left the
store without paying. The items were valued at $374.85. This incident is
under investigation.
08/13/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
female took multiple pairs of socks and underwear then left the store
without paying. The items were valued at $102.93. This incident is
under investigation.
08/14/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Advanced
Auto Parts) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee,
a male approached the counter and requested brake pads and a coil plug.
A second male then approached the counter and took the items when the
employee left them unattended. The items were valued at $169.98. This
incident is under investigation.
08/15/2026-Clarence Miller age 45 of Newark NJ. Officers responded
to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male took laundry detergent then left
the store without paying. The items were valued at $42.00. Officers
responded and located the suspect nearby. The suspect was placed under
arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed
accordingly.
08/15/2026-Edward Ward age 60 of NJ. Officers responded to 135
Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a Shoplifting.
According to a store employee, a male took laundry detergent then
attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at
$20.75. Officers responded and placed the suspect under arrest. The
suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be
processed accordingly.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed
innocent unless proven guilty.
