Theft
08/17/2026-Chrisann Shaffer age 47 of East Orange NJ. Officers
responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar Tree) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female filled a laundry
basket with various items then left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $45.00. Officers arrived and located the suspect nearby.
The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield
Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
08/19/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male attempted to take two pairs of shoes but was stopped at the exit by
the Loss Prevention Officer. The male left the items and fled the area.
The items were valued at $116.97. This incident is under investigation.
08/19/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
female took various items then left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $272.87. This incident is under investigation.
08/20/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Orange Street on
report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle behind the
residence on 08/19/2026. On 08/20/2026, the complainant noticed the
glove box was open and the vehicle was rummaged through. There was
paperwork missing from the vehicle and both license plates were taken.
This incident is under investigation.
08/22/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took underwear, socks and t-shirts then left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $146.92. This incident is under
investigation.
08/21/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, two
males entered the store together. One male took $179.96 worth of shoes
then left the store without paying. Shortly thereafter, the second male
took $204.96 worth of shoes then left the store without paying. This
incident is under investigation.
08/22/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took five sweatshirts then left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $214.94. This incident is under investigation.
08/22/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male filled a bag with underwear and socks then left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $197.85. This incident is under
investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
08/20/2026-Officers responded to the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue
on report of an E-bike Theft. A resident reported that she left her e-bike
unsecured at her residence overnight. When she returned in the morning,
the e-bike was missing. The e-bike was valued at $600.00. This incident
is under investigation.
8/23/2026-Officers responded to the area of Nancy Place on report of
an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident provided surveillance
video of a male entering his unlocked vehicle, stepping on the brakes
and attempting to start the vehicle. After the vehicle did not start, the
suspect ran into a waiting vehicle and fled. This incident is under
investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and
