Bloomfield Police Blotter: April 20, 2026 to April 26, 2026

Theft
04/20/2026-Officers responded to 244 Bloomfield Avenue (Aldi) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took meat and candy then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $241.84. This incident is under investigation.

04/20/2026-Juvenile Male age 17 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a juvenile male concealed beef jerky and Gatorade in his bag then left the store without paying. The juvenile male was located, transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters and turned over to a family member. This incident is under investigation.

04/20/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male concealed laundry detergent and soap in a tote bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $50.45. This incident is under investigation.

04/20/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on report of a Theft. According to the complainant, his backpack was taken from the printing station while he was at customer service. This incident is under investigation.

04/20/2026-Officers responded to the area of Evans Road on report of a Catalytic Converter Theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence on 04/14/2026 and when he returned to it on 4/20/2026, he noticed it was louder than usual. The resident noticed that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.

04/23/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took deodorant and cosmetics then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $231.65. This incident is under investigation.

04/23/2026-Officers responded to the area of North End Terrace on report of a Catalytic Converter Theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence on 04/20/2026 and when he returned to it on 4/22/2026, he noticed it was louder than usual. The resident took the vehicle to a repair shop where it was discovered that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.

04/24/2026-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female took seven cases of Red Bull and various cosmetic items by placing them into her shopping cart then leaving the store without paying. The items were valued at $450.27. This incident is under investigation.

04/24/2026-Officers responded to the area of Oakland Avenue on report of a Package Theft. A resident received a photo confirmation that an item was delivered to her residence. The complainant then noticed that the item was missing. The package contained wood panels valued at $14.99. This incident is under investigation.

04/25/2026-Officers responded to 357 Broad Street (Quick Chek) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female took six cans of Red Bull and four packs of Red Bull powder then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $53.96. This incident is under investigation.

04/25/2026-Senesie Hyggens age 58 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female concealed four spotlights, two paintbrushes, one oil stain, and one gallon of primer in a shopping bag then left the store without paying. Officers were able to locate the suspect and placed her under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
