Woodland Park Crossing Guard Fatally Struck While Assisting Kids

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Woodland Park Chief of Police Luigi DeLuca announce that on May 4, 2026, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a Woodland Park crossing guard assisted two juveniles across the intersection at McBride Avenue and Lackawanna Avenue when they were struck by a vehicle. The crossing guard, an 80-year-old female resident of Woodland Park, was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where she was subsequently pronounced deceased. The two juveniles were also transported to the hospital and are in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
