Bloomfield Police Blotter: April 27, 2026 to May 3, 2026

Theft
04/27/2026-Officers responded to 76 Broad Street (Sacred Heart Church) on report of a Theft. While working as a volunteer at the church, the complainant placed her bag down in the basement. Prior to leaving, the complainant checked her bag and noticed $100.00 and her credit card were missing. This incident is under investigation.

04/28/2026-Officers responded to 244 Bloomfield Avenue (Aldi) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male filled his bookbag with steaks then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $146.00. This incident is under investigation.

04/28/2026-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, on 04/25/2026, a female took several cases of Red Bull from the shelf then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $415.84. This incident is under investigation.

04/28/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a male concealed deodorant and body wash in a bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $53.34. This incident is under investigation.

04/28/2026-Officers responded to the area of Glenwood Avenue and Lackawanna Plaza on report of a Theft. The complainant chained her E-Bike on the gate near the Lackawanna Train Station at 5:30a.m. When the complainant returned at 7:20p.m., she noticed that both the E-Bike and chain were missing. This incident is under investigation.

04/29/2026-Officers responded to 357 Broad Street (Quick Chek) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female took two bottles of water then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $9.98. This incident is under investigation.

04/30/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male entered the store earlier in the day and attempted to steal electric razors. The same male returned several hours later and took various bags of candy. The items were valued at $76.94. This incident is under investigation.

04/30/2026-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer a male took multiple packs of Red Bull, Monster Energy and soda then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $219.91. This incident is under investigation.

04/28/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Theft. The complainant left her Apple iPhone under the credit card scanner while checking out. When she returned to retrieve it, it was missing. The item was valued at $1,000.00. This incident is under investigation.

05/01/2026-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female took a bags of peanuts then left the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.

05/02/2026-Officers responded to the area of Weaver Avenue and Franklin Street on report of a Catalytic Converter Theft. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and when he returned the following morning, he noticed the vehicle was louder than usual. Upon further inspection, the complainant noticed the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.

05/02/2026-Officers responded to the area of Franklin Street on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident had his work van towed on 04/15/2026. When he picked up his van on 04/28/2026, he noticed several tools were missing. The tools were valued at $1000.00. This incident is under investigation.

05/02/2026-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, two males filled a shopping cart with Red Bull and various other items and attempted to leave the store without paying. The Loss Prevention Officer confronted them and the males fled, leaving the shopping cart behind. The items were valued at $565.13. This incident is under investigation.

05/02/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took two trash cans and three boxes of trash bags then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $114.55. This incident is under investigation.

05/02/2026-Jermaine Raab age 46 of Newark NJ. While patrolling the area of 135 Bloomfield Avenue, Officers observed a known shoplifter walking away from the Dollar Tree with several packages of candy in a blue Walmart bag. Officers confirmed with a store employee that the suspect took the candy then left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

Motor Vehicle Theft
05/03/2026-While patrolling the area of Broad Street and Este Place, Officers observed broken glass and a baseball bat lying on the street. A short time later, Officers were approached by an individual who wanted to report a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant parked her vehicle in the area and then received a text message that the vehicle was traveling in the City of Newark. When the complainant went to check on her vehicle, she noticed it was missing. The vehicle, a white 2024 BMW 530i, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

05/03/2026-Officers responded to the 900 block of Broad Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked his vehicle near the residence overnight and the following morning, he noticed it was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key fob inside. The vehicle, a black 2025 Audi A5, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Burglary
04/30/2026-Officers responded to 138 Watsessing Avenue (United Check Cashing) on report of an Attempted Burglary. According to the complainant, surveillance footage shows two males using a ladder to climb onto the roof of the building and attempt to gain entry into the business. This incident is under investigation.

Robbery
05/03/2026-Juvenile Male age 16 of Bloomfield NJ. The complainant responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Robbery that occurred at Foley Field. According to the complainant, a juvenile male asked to use his phone. The male then lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun that was tucked in his waist band. Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
