On Monday, May 5, 2026, at approximately 1:09 a.m., officers of the Belvidere Police Department were
dispatched to the 300 block of Front Street in response to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, responding officers
located the victim suffering from stab wounds to the back, arm, and hand. Subsequent investigation determined
that the incident was isolated in nature and involved parties known to one another.
Carom was charged on Complaint Warrants with the offenses below. He is currently lodged in the Warren County
Correctional Center in Belvidere, New Jersey. The Court is anticipated to hear the State’s Motion for Pretrial
Detention during the week of May 6, 2025.
- Aggravated Assault, specifically by causing serious bodily injury to the victim, in violation of N.J.S.A.
2C:12-1B(1), a crime of the second degree.
- Terroristic Threats, specifically by threatening to kill another with the purpose of putting him/her in in
imminent fear of death, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3B, a crime of the third degree.
- Terroristic Threats, specifically by threatening to commit a crime of violence with the purpose to terrorize
another, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3A, a crime of the third degree.
- Escape, specifically by purposefully attempting to remove himself from official detention, in violation of
N.J.S.A. 2C:29-5A, a crime of the third degree.
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5D, a crime of the fourth degree.
- Use or Possession with Intent to Use, specifically by being in possession of a digital scale and suspected
methamphetamine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2A, a disorderly person’s offense.
Second degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of ten (10) years in New Jersey State Prison. Third degree
crimes carry a maximum sentence of five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison. Fourth degree crimes carry a
maximum of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison. Disorderly persons offenses carry a maximum sentence
of six (6) months in the Warren County Correctional Center.
The charges are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond
a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Crimes Unit, Washington Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police and Pennsylvania State Police.
