The Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services, Division
of Senior Services is pleased to announce the availability of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition
Program for 2026. The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides individuals who are
age 60+ and who meet the financial eligibility, with a one-time $40.00 electronic benefit in the
form of a QR code to purchase local fresh fruits and vegetables at participating farm stands in
New Jersey. There are many local, community farms that participate in the Senior Farmers
Market Nutrition Program and each qualified individual will receive a complete list of the farm
stands with their information packet.
The Sussex County Division of Senior Services will be distributing the electronic benefit
starting on June 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026 at the office of the Division of Senior
Services at One Spring Street, 1st Floor, Newton. Currently, to be eligible, a senior’s income
cannot exceed $29,526 annually or $2,461 monthly if single, or $40,034 annually or $3,337
monthly if married, and they must be a Sussex County resident. These income limits run
through June 30, 2027.
In order to complete an application, seniors must provide proof of age, income and
residency. A driver’s license or utility/phone bill are acceptable proof of residency and age. A
2025 income tax return, social security benefit statement, current pay stub or valid food
stamp/SNAP verification are acceptable means to prove income eligibility. Please note that the
PAAD card is no longer acceptable as proof of eligibility. Seniors who do not provide proof of
income must self-declare their income by signing a form. Benefits must be used by November
30, 2026.
The Sussex County Division of Senior Services urges all eligible seniors to participate in
this program. If you do not have the ability to make an appointment and come into our office,
homebound seniors who qualify may receive this once a year benefit through a proxy. For
