SONGBIRDS THE WOMAN BEHIND THE MUSIC WITH NICOLE CORRIS

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, songwriters such as Carole King and Joni Mitchell emerged as defining voices of a new generation. Their turn toward personal, confessional songwriting inspired and empowered future generations of female artists, from Stevie Nicks to Taylor Swift. In Songbirds, singer Nicole Corris explores the music and stories of these women. Space is limited, please reserve your spot on the calendar @ secaucuslibrary.org

Biography: Nicole Corris is an internationally acclaimed vocalist and musician based in Weehawken, NJ. What started as a quest to find more female written material while performing in a classic rock cover band turned into a deep dive into the songs and stories of women all across the musical landscape - from opera to jazz, musical theatre to contemporary pop. This material has formed the basis of Nicole’s solo shows over the last few years, including Rock Goddess, Songbirds, and Weaving Carole’s Tapestry: The Life and Music of Carole King. She has performed around the world in regional theatres, cruise ships, and concert halls, from Carnegie Hall to Uruguay’s Teatro Solís. Most Decembers she can be seen performing all over New Jersey with the Yuletide Carolers.
