WEEKLY HIKE / LORRIMER NATURE SANCTUARY / Franklin Lakes
**NEW JERSEY'S ULTIMATE SINGLE'S MEET-UP GROUP, WHERE THE FUN NEVER STOPS!**

Spring is finally here! Join **[MINGLE AROUND SINGLES](https://www.meetup.com/mingle-around-singles-40s-50s-60s-events-adventures/events/307350780/copy/)** as we enjoy weekly hikes outdoors in nature. Each week, we will walk, hike or stroll at a different hidden gem of nature in the local area.

This week we will enjoy an easy walk and stroll through the LORRIMER SANCTUARY in Franklin Lakes. While we are there, we will visit the Center, walk the trails, and browse through the gift/book shop.

Meet after work at 4pm by the trailhead sign located on the right side of the parking lot, where we will begin today's walk in nature and explore nature, birds, wildlife in the sanctuary.

**Lorrimer Sanctuary was bequeathed to the New Jersey Audubon Society by Ms. Lucine L. Lorrimer in 1956. The main house, parts of which date back to the late 1700’s, is the present visitors’ center and Sanctuary office.**

The visitors’ center has an exhibit and lecture room, winter bird feeding station, interpretive displays, hands-on exhibits, and a gift shop, the proceeds of which benefit the Sanctuary. There is a self-guiding trail system that winds through the 14 acres of land. Much of the acreage is second-growth woods (mostly oak, maple, ash, and beech); and small stands of planted evergreens. The trails are open daily, dawn to dusk.
As this is a wildlife sanctuary, all plants and animals are protected — they may not be harmed, harassed or removed.

Lots of photo opportunities.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring a bottle of water.
