Criminal Mischief
February 27, 2024 (Upper Mountain Avenue): Code Enforcement Officers reported that they were checking on a vacant property on Upper Mountain Avenue. Code Enforcement reported that they observed that the rear door on the first floor was open. The structure had been heavily vandalized and appears to have had juveniles visiting it. Many of the exterior windows at the rear of the property were broken out. Several doors were damaged as well. Empty beer cans were located throughout the residence and the interior had further signs of intentional damage. There was an open rear window that appeared to have been smashed out that will have to be bordered up.

Motor Vehicle Crime
February 28, 2024 (North Willow Street): The complainant reported that he started his 2013 Volkswagen Passat and it began making a strange sound. He took the vehicle to his mechanic and learned his catalytic converter had been stolen. He believes the theft occurred between 8:00 PM and 9:000 AM. March 1, 2024 (Clinton Avenue): The complainant reported that three of his workers had their backpacks stolen from inside of his pickup truck. The backpacks reportedly contained approximately $2500.00 total.

March 3, 2024 (Montclair Avenue): The resident reported observing two males in ski masks exit a silver Kia and run up to her vehicle (2014 Porsche Cayenne) which was parked in her driveway. The vehicle was locked, and entry was unsuccessful. The suspects then attempted the caller’s neighbor’s vehicle (2022 Audi Q5) which was also locked. The suspects fled in the Kia Sportage, which was reported stolen out of Newark.

March 5, 2024 (Union Street): The victim reported that her Jeep Wrangler was entered while parked on Union Street. An unknown object was used to shatter a rear window. A dog grooming kit containing approximately $3000 in grooming materials was reported stolen.

Burglary
February 29, 2024 (Overlook Road): The victim reported that she was walking down to the first floor of her residence when she heard a noise coming from an office on the first floor. When she approached her office, she observed that three of her windows were tampered with. All three screens to her windows were opened with the middle window screen lifted all the way. At the time of the report, it was unknown if anything was missing.

Arrest
March 1, 2024 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 40-year-old female from Albany, GA was charged with Criminal Attempt and Criminal Stimulation after allegedly trying to open an account at Citizen’s Bank with Fraudulent Documents. March 1, 2024 (Valley Road): A 46-year-old male from Paterson, NJ was charged with Obstruction of Justice and Resisting Arrest following a motor vehicle stop.
