West New York Man Arrested for Illegal Firearm

West New York Man Charged with Weapons Offenses

On October 27th, 2024, at 12:41AM, Police Officer Frank Dubicki Jr, of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division was addressing a parking complaint around 69th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard East. Prior to the vehicle being issued a summons for the parking violation, the vehicle owner arrived. During their on-scene interaction, P.O. F. Dubicki observed a rifle in plain view inside of the parked vehicle. During the on-scene investigation, P.O. F. Dubicki uncovered that the vehicle owner did not possess a New Jersey Firearms Identification Card, at which point 27-year-old Lazaro M. Urquiaga of West New York, NJ, was placed under arrest for the unlawful possession of a weapon [2C:39-5C(1)] and transporting a weapon [2C:39-9D].

Mr. Urquiaga was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Urquiaga was issued his complaint summons, a summons for a parking violation, and then released from police custody.
