Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
The Library will be closed for flooring replacement from Monday, April 28 through Wednesday, May 7. No items owned by the Library are due during this time, and you may use your card at any other local library. The Library will reopen on Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 am.
Tomorrow - Saturday, April 26 at the Senior Center - The Tenafly Singers present the Ode to Spring Concert. Selected Choral Music in Mandarin, English, Latin and Italian. The doors open at 1:30 pm and the concert starts at 2:00. Light refreshments will be served.
Sunday, April 27, at the Nature Center visit to protect our forest in the morning from 10:00 am to Noon with Forest Defenders. Visit tenaflynaturecenter.org for full details and registration information - let’s explore, restore, and connect!
Tenafly is hosting its annual town-wide Trash-a-Thon. Please join us this Sunday, April 27 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for this important event. The Nature Center, the Environmental Commission, Green Team, and the High School Green Team, welcome everyone to attend as we clean up our community and raise donations for the Nature Center. Volunteer to participate individually or as a family in collecting litter or pledge to sponsor a volunteer. You are invited to an illustrated talk regarding Orthodox Epiphany in Ethiopia, showing artifacts, by the author of "Flowers and Locusts" by Tenafly resident Martha Reid Paradis, who grew up in Ethiopia, April 30 at 7:30 pm at the Presbyterian Church. Free Admission, everyone is welcome.
Get Ready for Razzle-Dazzle! Tenafly High School Presents: CHICAGO – The Teen Edition. The Theater Department is thrilled to bring the glitz, glam, and high-energy excitement of CHICAGO to the stage this spring—and you’re invited! Join us for three unforgettable nights as our talented students take on the legendary musical packed with scandal, showbiz, and sensational choreography. Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 at the Senior Center - Adults with Aging Parent Drivers- sponsored by Senior Care Authority. This presentation was developed to help members of the baby-boomer generation when they become concerned about a loved one's ability to drive safely as a result of the natural aging process. We provide a roadmap to help families address the issue with tact, compassion, and empathy, so that the older driver's dignity and independence is never unnecessarily jeopardized.
Join us Saturday, May 3, for our annual Little League Opening Day Parade and Ceremony. We will gather at 8:30 am in the George Street and West Clinton Avenue lot. Be sure to wear your REC uniform and bring your team spirit! From there, we will march together through town, cheered on by friends and family, and arrive at the Little League Field for the ceremonial first pitch, raffle prizes, DJ, hot dogs, ice cream, photo booth, and plenty of fun. This is the kickoff to our season you won’t want to miss. Bring the whole family, cheer on your teammates, and let’s make this Opening Day one for the record books! The Tenafly Chamber of Commerce and the Tenafly Downtown Committee are excited to announce the final lineup for the highly anticipated annual Spring Fling, taking place Sunday, May 4, from Noon to 5:00 pm in downtown Huyler Park. The Garden Club’s Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm rain or shine at two locations: the Greenhouse at Davis Johnson Park and Oresko Memorial Green (opposite the Post Office). The sale includes flowering annuals in pots of varying sizes, hanging baskets, patio planters and flats. Quality plants at competitive prices!

The Presbyterian Church and the director of music, Jim Millar are opening their doors with an invitation to take part in a community choir and orchestra project this spring. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on May 6, 13, 20, 27. Please don’t forget those with food insecurity in our communities. Consider donating some of your unopened and unexpired food or toiletries. Place donations in a bag and drop off at the Tenafly Rotary Club’s food collection box, located between Stop & Shop and Celebrity Bagels. Our Rotarians collect and deliver all unopened and unexpired donations to local food banks. If you are interested in learning more about Rotary or contributing to their support of local needs, they meet at TPR most Thursdays at Noon.
