3/16/2025 2:58 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported a physical dispute between a male and female in front of a West
Passaic Street hotel. Patrol met a 22-year-old male from Pompton Lakes and a
25-year-old female from Paterson. Each agreed the dispute was verbal in nature
and were willing to separate for the evening.
3/16/2025 6:46 AM, (Breach of Peace)
Hotel Staff from a West Passaic Street hotel reported several guests reported
arguing in a 2nd floor room. Officers responded and found the previous couple
did not separate for the evening and continued arguing. The couple vacated the
property prior to police arrival. A welfare check in the room revealed no personal
belongings left behind.
3/17/2025 7:00 PM (Suspicious Person)
Patrons of a Route 17 North restaurant reported a male party looking into parked
vehicles. Patrol located a 29-year-old male from Maywood who matched the
description. The male stated he was picking up cigarette butts and was sent on his
way. A warrant check was negative.
3/17/2025 9:40 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A 40-year-old male caller reported a dispute with his 78-year-old father inside a
Harvey Avenue residence. Responding officers found that the son was arguing
with his father over his brothers’ use of cannabis. The other brother was upset
over the callers’ past use of alcohol. Officers settled the dispute and all parties
went inside.
3/17/2025 11:57 PM, (Breach of Peace / Commitment)
Loss prevention from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a female
repeatedly walking in and out of the store and screaming. Patrol located the
female in a state of distress. She stated she suffers several mental illnesses and
was without medication. The 33-year-old female from Vernon was transported to
a medical facility.
3/18/2025 11:31 PM, (Arrest – Adult)
A 29-year-old male from Teaneck responded to headquarters to dispute an
accident report he was involved in. The male complainant was found to have an
active warrant for his arrest from South Hackensack Police. He was taken into
custody, processed, and a family member posted his outstanding bail.
3/18/2025 8:40 PM, (DWI – Arrest Adult)
A 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident in a Rochelle Avenue liquor store
parking lot. Patrol arrived on scene and spoke with one of the drivers’, who
reported the second driver struck his vehicle, parked, and entered the liquor store
without conversing with the other driver. This driver, a 69-year-old male from
Lodi was suspected of impaired driving. Police located 4 empty bottles of wine
inside his vehicle. The accident was documented and a driver was arrested for
DUI. He subsequently submitted samples of his breath that registered over twice
the legal limit.
3/19/2025 12:40 AM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A walk-in complainant reported a male approached her at a West Passaic Street
supermarket and requested her phone number. The female complainant, a 31-
year-old from Clifton, rejected his advances. As she returned to her vehicle she
found a note with the word “A**hole” and a drawing of the middle finger. Police
were unable to identify the artist.
3/20/2025 5:15 PM, (Suspicious Person)
Code Enforcement reported an unauthorized person inside an A-Harvey Avenue
residence. Patrol located a 65-year-old former resident of the home and advised
that he had 45 minutes to vacate the property. The subject complied.
3/21/2025 9:18 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer initiated a motor vehicle stop for tinted windows. A registration
check revealed the vehicle to have an expired registration since September of
2024. The driver, a 39-year-old male from East Orange, acknowledged that the
vehicle was uninsured and he did not have a driver’s license. A K-9 perimeter
sniff provided a positive indication for narcotics. Officers then located (2) plastic
baggies with suspected cocaine residue. The driver, who also possessed (2) open
arrest warrants, was arrested, charged with possession of Drug Paraphernalia and
committed to the Bergen County Jail.
3/22/2025 4:15 PM, (Welfare Check)
A caller from an Oak Street apartment complex reported a young male screaming
for help. Police located a 15-year-old resident who stated he was playing video
games, no assistance required.
3/22/2025 10:51 PM, (Unwanted Person)
An Essex Street convenience store employee asked a homeless male to vacate the
property and he was met with abusive language. The male was reported to be
disturbing customers and panhandling. An ordinance summons was issued for
soliciting and the male requested transport to a local hospital.
3/23/2025 2:17 AM, (DWI Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer observed a vehicle on Essex Street commit multiple violations. A
motor vehicle stop ensued and the driver, a 34 year old male from Hackensack,
stated he was trying to follow his friend who was “tuned up”. Impaired driving
was suspected, field sobriety tests were failed, and the driver was arrest. Several
summonses were issued and the arrestee was released to the care of a family
member.
3/23/2025 2:30 PM, (Suspicious Vehicle)
Headquarters advised all patrol units that the license plate of a NYC felony
vehicle just hit on Passaic Street. A patrol officer located the vehicle in a
supermarket parking lot. The NYPD was contacted and requested the driver be
identified. The vehicle involved was a getaway vehicle in a robbery event. The
information was shared with NYPD detectives and the vehicle was impounded as
it possessed an expired registration. The suspect was a 56-year-old female from
Hackensack.
3/24/2025 1:22 PM, (Unwanted Person)
A store manager from a Passaic Street supermarket reported a disruption near the
registers. The person in question, a resident of Hackensack, was abusing the
electric cart privileges. He was escorted from the store.
3/26/2025 9:43 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
Sheriff’s Officers stopped a 35-year-old male party from Irvington who possessed
two open traffic warrants from RPPD. Officers took custody of the male,
transported him to the Municipal Court, and bail was posted.
3/26/2025 9:48 PM, (Breach of Peace - Commitment)
The resident of an Oak Street apartment wants his intoxicated friend removed.
Patrol arrived and located an intoxicated 46-year-old resident of Fairview. He
was unable to stand and stumbled several times. An EMS unit was requested and
committed the male to a local facility.
3/27/2025 2:24 PM, (Commitment)
Hackensack Police reported a suicidal male whose phone is pinging in Rochelle
Park. Police spoke to a hotel manager who reported the male in question just left.
Eight minutes later the manager reported the male returned. Officers contacted
him and committed him to a facility.
3/29/2025 12:44 PM, (Shoplifting - Juvenile)
A supermarket loss prevention employee reported a shoplifter in custody. A 14-
year-old male from Hackensack shoplifted $32 worth of goods. He was banned
from the store, paid for the items, and released to an adult brother.
3/29/2025 12:59 PM, (Suspicious Person)
A caller reported a male walking on Rochelle Avenue with a large knife. Patrol
located a 30-year-old male resident of Saddle Brook. Upon approach police
observed a medium size knife in a waste band sheath. The male was
argumentative and began filming officers. Police determined the knife was
possessed legally and released him from the scene.
3/29/2025 11:45 PM, (DWI -Arrest (2))
Multiple callers reported a vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Rochelle Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene and found a single vehicle collision with a 49-year-old
female driver from Garfield on site. The driver was also in the company of her
11-year-old daughter. The driver was administered field sobriety tests and failed.
Police requested the juveniles’ father respond to the scene to take custody of the
child. The father, a 55-year-old male from Garfield, arrived on scene and was
immediately suspected of impaired driving. Field sobriety tests were performed
and the father was also placed under arrest for suspicion of DWI. Several
summonses were issued to mother and father, the female was additionally charged
with child endangerment. A sober party was eventually located and took custody
of all 3 individuals.
3/30/2025 11:06 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A patrol Lieutenant reported being flagged down by a patron of a West Passaic
Street donut shop. The patron reported a male was yelling at customers. Police
located a 56-year-old male from Maywood who was unhappy with his coffee
order. He was offered 3 separate versions of his order and sent on his way.
3/31/2025 5:53 PM, (Identity Theft)
A Catherine Street resident reported an identity theft regarding his Verizon
account. The complainant reported both of his phones were disconnected and
new iPhones were ordered to his account. Police assisted with restoring his
service and completed an ID theft report.
In addition, (25) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (154) motor vehicle
stops were conducted in a 14-day span.
