Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Congratulations to Angela “Angie” Bracconeri a proud Tenafly resident for over 75 years, who celebrated her 105th birthday this week. Happy Birthday Angie!

Our Online Reservation System through Community Pass for reserving tennis and pickleball courts is now available. You can reserve and get immediate confirmation that the date and time you want to play is available and locked in! You can reserve for up to 2 weeks at a time! Visit Community pass in the Recreation section of the Borough website to reserve courts.

Get Ready for Razzle-Dazzle! Tenafly High School Presents: CHICAGO – The Teen Edition. The Theater Department is thrilled to bring the glitz, glam, and high-energy excitement of CHICAGO to the stage this spring—and you’re invited! Join us for two more unforgettable nights as our talented students take on the legendary musical packed with scandal, showbiz, and sensational choreography. Whether you’re a longtime fan or brand new to the roaring ‘20s, this is a show you won’t want to miss! Show Dates: tonight May 2 and this Saturday, May 3. Curtain Time: 7:30 p.m. at the Tenafly High School Auditorium. Tickets: Available at thstheater.org

Join us Saturday, May 3, for our annual Little League Opening Day Parade and Ceremony. We will gather at 8:30 am in the George Street and West Clinton Avenue lot. Be sure to wear your REC uniform and bring your team spirit! From there, we will march together through town, cheered on by friends and family, and arrive at the Little League Field for the ceremonial first pitch, raffle prizes, DJ, hot dogs, ice cream, photo booth, and plenty of fun. This is the kickoff to our season you won’t want to miss. Bring the whole family, cheer on your teammates, and let’s make this Opening Day one for the record books! See you on Saturday, May 3 at 8:30 am—let’s play ball!

Tenafly athletics played their 1st ever Girls Flag Football game this past Saturday. We have 17 girls participating and everyone is excited for the future of the program. Boys Tennis is currently undefeated and ranked in the top 15 in the state. Despite graduating 13 seniors - Boys Lacrosse is poised to earn a birth in the county tournament and are currently ranked 11 in the county. Girls Lacrosse and Softball have doubled their win totals from last year. Girl's Lacrosse qualified for the Country tournament for the first time in program history playing Holy Angels next Monday at Holy Angels.

This Saturday, May 3, at the Nature Center join in for a day full of nature, creativity, and connection! Start your morning with Explore TNC brought to you in partnership with the Senior Center from 11:00 am to Noon, you can enjoy a gentle nature hike and animal encounter perfect for adults looking to enjoy the outdoors and meet new friends.

Then, bring the whole family for Crafty Critters from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, where kids and adults alike can get inspired by the TNC Animal Ambassadors and create nature-themed art.

You are invited to Family Movie Night at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 3 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. While watching Kung Fu Panda, you can try some of Po’s favorite treats: noodles, dumplings and popcorn. Ages 3 years to 4th grade. Children must be accompanied by parents. Free of charge. Join us this weekend, Sunday, May 4, from Noon to 5:00 pm in downtown Huyler Park for the Tenafly Spring Fling, an annual celebration that brings together the community for a day of music, food, and fun. Now in its second year, this year’s Spring Fling embraces a vibrant wellness theme, featuring an artisan market, food festival, community planting, art, rides, music, and fitness contests.

The Garden Club’s Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm rain or shine at two locations: the Greenhouse at Davis Johnson Park and Oresko Memorial Green (opposite the Post Office). The sale includes flowering annuals in pots of varying sizes, hanging baskets, patio planters and flats. Quality plants at competitive prices!

Don’t miss An Enchanted Evening on Saturday, May 17 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The Nature Center spring fundraiser gala celebrating community, conservation, and connection. With dinner, dancing, and the presentation of the Founders Award for Conservation and Community Partner, it’s a night to remember—and all for a great cause. The Nature Center, Environmental Commission, Green Team, and High School Green Team thank all who participated in this past Sunday's Trash-a-thon. With your support and assistance over 87 participants were able to clean up the community green spaces, removing 31 bags or 900+ pounds of litter that had been discarded around Tenafly, helping us to ensure that our natural world is being left with only footprints.

Rubin Run: Running for Inclusion at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, Sunday, May 11. Early bird registration for Rubin Run 2025 at the Kaplen JCC has been extended! The Presbyterian Church and the director of music, Jim Millar is opening their doors with an invitation to take part in a community choir and orchestra project this spring. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on May 6, 13, 20, 27. The concert date is June 1.

On Saturday, May 10 at 2 PM, the Presbyterian Church will hold the first of six Organ concerts. The first will progress from Chapel to Sanctuary with fabulous Princeton organist, Joseph Ferguson. Free of charge.
