Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The 54th Annual Taste of Greece Festival at Saint John’s the Theologian on East Clinton Avenue starts today, Friday, May 30 to June 1. Friday and Saturday hours are Noon to midnight, Sunday it’s Noon to 9:00 pm. Food, games, rides, music, and dancing. Free admission!

Don’t forget the Tenafly 5K Run and Dog Walk is coming up this Sunday, June 1. The fun kicks off today, Friday, at 3:30 pm at the Middle School. There is a pasta party for all participants tomorrow, Saturday, and then Sunday is race day! Registration opens at 7:30am. Ben and Zach Kushman in partnership with Coby Cohen of the Global Humanitarian and Social Activism clubs at the High School are holding a “Year of the Pencil” drive through the nonprofit Develop Africato raise awareness about theeducational resource gap in Africa. Please help provide pencils to students in under-servedcommunities by donating new pencils and pencil sharpeners. Collection bins are located at 61 Elm Street and 17 Park Street through tomorrow, Saturday, May 31.

Come and hear the Tenafly Community Choir and Orchestra in a celebration of music. Repertoire includes Handel's Zadok the Priest (sung at every British coronation since 1727), Schubert's Mass in G and Mozart's Jupiter Symphony. This Sunday, June 1 at 7:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia Avenue. All are invited to attend. Free entry, donations welcome.

Summer’s heating up at the Nature Center with three magical ways to connect with nature and community! Mark your calendars for Nature Day, Sunday, June 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for the biggest family-friendly event of the season! Celebrate all things birds, butterflies, and sky with hands-on activities, live animal encounters, guided walks, canoeing, art, and more.

Then, give your little explorer the gift of a wild childhood, registration is now open for the 2025 to 2026 Full Year Forest School, a play-based outdoor learning program for children ages 3.5 to 7 that fosters resilience, curiosity, and a deep love of nature.

And don’t miss the sparkle and creativity of Fireflies & Faeries, Saturday, July 12 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, a whimsical evening where artists and families light up the Red Trail with handmade faerie houses and glowing artworks, followed by a community display at the Library. The annual Tenafly Pride flag raising isWednesday, June 4 at 3:30 pm in Huyler Park. Then, thePride celebration is Saturday, June 7beginning with aparadefrom Oresko Park that lines up at 12:30 pm and marches to Huyler Park,followed bya party from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Join in for dancing, photo booths, face painting and more!

The Tenafly Senior Center will host its annual Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, June 12. Local vendors interested in participating should reach out to the Center. Don't forget to save the date, as this is an open event for the public.
