Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
Eighty-one years ago today American and Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy to protect our nation and free millions from tyranny. Let us remember their sacrifice's and honor their memory.
The Tenafly girls 5th/6th Gomez softball team beat Northvale-Mueller in a pitcher’s duel 3 to 2 and now move on to divisionals. Congratulations to the team, coaches and parents!
A friendly reminder from the DPW to please place your recycling bins at the curb the evening before pick up.
The annual Pride celebration is tomorrow, Saturday, June 7 beginning with a parade stepping off from Oresko Park that lines up at 12:30 pm and marches to Huyler Park, followed by a party from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Join in for dancing, photo booths, face painting and more!
Tenafly High School is celebrating a razzle-dazzle triumph after its production of Chicago earned 6 nominations and 2 wins at the BergenPac High School Musical Awards. The production took home two of the most coveted awards: Best Director – Samuel Ahn-Cooper, Best Orchestration – William Farnham. With well over 50 high schools competing from across the state, the competition was fierce — making these wins all the more remarkable. Chicago dazzled judges and audiences alike with its sharp choreography, bold staging, and unforgettable musical performances. Earning SIX nominations is a testament to the passion, talent, and teamwork behind our High School’s theater department. A huge congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative team — our whole community is beaming with pride. Bravo!
Looking for ways to get outside and enjoy the season? There’s something for everyone coming up at the Nature Center! This Saturday, June 7, kids and families can get creative at Crafty Critters from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Meet a live animal ambassador and then make your very own artistic version to take home.
Then, come back the next day for one of TNC’s biggest events of the year, Nature Day on Sunday, June 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm! Celebrate the skies with this year’s “Soaring Skyward” theme, and enjoy live raptors, canoeing on Pfister’s Pond, nature walks, art, and more.
Finally, adults can start their Tuesday morning right with the Refresh & Revive Hike Club on Wednesday, June 11, 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A guided, social hike through the trails, led by Certified Yoga Therapist and TNC Trustee, Dalia Sabari. Space is limited for all programs, so head to tenaflynaturecenter.org to register and enjoy everything nature has to offer this June!
Next Thursday, June 12 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm is the Health and Wellness Fair sponsored by Senior Care Authority and the Tenafly Senior Center. Join us for this free community event. Stop by the Center for lots of information on improving your health. Enjoy some free goodies. Free exercise class at 11:00 am presented by CGI Holistic Fitness and Spa.
The Library will host its annual Summer Reading Kickoff Picnic sponsored by the Tenafly Library Friends on Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This year's picnic is better than ever! The Center for Aquatic Sciences will bring their hands-on Beach Detective table. Community members of all ages are invited to investigate different animal artifacts that can be found on the beach. And, of course, we will have crafts, games, and food for purchase. Everyone is invited!
Save the date for Saturday, June 28 from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm in Roosevelt Common for our Annual 4th of July Celebration hosted by Tenafly Recreation. Come and join us for rides, games, giveaways, food, contests, DJ and more!
