2025 SCLS Summer Reading Program

The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) invites all ages to join its 2025 Summer Reading Program: Color Our World™ from June 26 to July 26. Participants can read—or listen to—books, graphic novels, or magazines and attend events to earn raffle tickets for exciting prizes.

Kickoff Events:

The summer fun begins on Thursday, June 26, with Meg’s Artistry, bringing color and creativity to life for teens and tweens:
  • 11:00 am at the Dorothy Henry Branch in Vernon
  • 1:00 pm at the Franklin Branch in Franklin

Meg returns on Saturday, June 28 at 1:00 pm to the Dennis Branch in Newton.

On Friday, June 27, families with young children won’t want to miss Color Your World with Books, a high-energy magic show by library favorite Brian Richards:
  • 10:00 am at the Main Library in Frankford
  • 12:30 pm at the Louise Childs Branch in Stanhope

Then on Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 am, pop on over to the Sussex-Wantage Branch in Wantage for Mr. UnPoppable’s POP ART Balloon Show, an unforgettable performance by master balloon artist Mark Ghia, perfect for older children and families.

Adults can kick off their summer with creativity as well at the Main Library in Frankford on Saturday, June 28 at 12:30 pm. Local artist Regina Orr will lead a watercolor painting workshop—just one of many engaging programs offered throughout the summer.

Visit the library throughout the summer for fun and educational events for all ages. Kids and teens will enjoy summer favorites such as Read to a Dog, STEAM activities, crafts, storytimes, book clubs, games, and so much more! Adults join the library for workshops throughout the summer including book clubs, arts, crafts, needlework, fiber arts, cooking and healthy living.

For full program details, including the calendar of events, rules, prizes, and a list of generous donors, stop by your local branch or visit sussexcountylibrary.org/summer-reading. All events and programs are free and open to all. Children and teens can stop by weekly to earn weekly prizes and enter raffle tickets. Prize winners must have a Sussex County library card.
