In a progressive move towards fostering stronger community bonds, Mayor Ted R. Green, Department of Public Safety Director Maurice Boyd, and Police Chief Phyllis L. Bindi proudly announce the launch of Axon’s My90—an innovative tool set to transform the East Orange Police Department’s (EOPD) interactions with residents. This initiative aims to cultivate trust and transparency throughout the community, making it an exemplary model for public safety engagement. My90 will officially launch on June 16, 2025.
My90 is designed to facilitate the collection of confidential and anonymous feedback following specific officer interactions, affording residents a direct platform to share their experiences with the EOPD.
“My90 empowers us to connect and engage in a substantial and meaningful way with our community members,” expressed Director Boyd. “By actively listening to and utilizing feedback from our residents, we are dedicated to enhancing our engagement, improving outcomes during calls for service, and driving positive changes that resonate throughout the community.”
After an engagement with a police officer, residents will receive an online survey automatically sent via text message. This simple yet effective tool allows them to offer anonymous feedback about their interactions, ensuring that no personal data or details about the incident are collected. This thoughtful approach allows for open and honest communication while maintaining privacy.
It is important to note that the surveys are dispatched to individuals who make specific types of service calls; they will not be sent following arrests, medical emergencies, or incidents involving violent crimes, allowing the focus to remain on constructive feedback from non-crisis interactions.
Chief Bindi highlighted the significance of the feedback format, detailing how the responses collected through these surveys will reveal areas in need of improvement.
“The insights gained from anonymous feedback will not only showcase our strengths, but also reveal areas where we can grow,” Bindi said. “This information will enable us to implement best practices specifically tailored to the unique needs of the EOPD and the great community we serve. Ultimately, our commitment lies in continuously striving to meet or exceed the highest standards of service while upholding the trust vested in us by the public.”
Mayor Green encourages all residents to participate in the My90 surveys.
“Your insights and experiences are invaluable in shaping local policies and initiatives that will enhance the quality of life for everyone,” said Mayor Green. “Please take a few moments to share your thoughts. Every voice matters in creating a better future for all.”
