Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray, Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo, New Jersey Transit Police Chief
Christopher Trucillo, and New Jersey State Police Colonel Patrick J. Callahan announce the arrest
of Irene Frazier, 39 years old, of Paterson, New Jersey. Ms. Frazier is charged with three counts of
Interference with Custody, third degree, and Contempt of a Court Order, fourth degree.
On June 13, 2025, at approximately 1:18 p.m., the Paterson Police Department received a
report of three missing children who had been taken by their mother in contravention of a court
order. An investigation into the whereabouts of the children was immediately initiated by the
Paterson Police Department, who worked in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s
Office, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, the New Jersey Transit Police, and the New Jersey
State Police Missing Persons Unit. At approximately 11:34 pm. the children were located unharmed
in the area of Sandy Court and Christopher Columbus Drive, in Paterson, New Jersey. Irene Frazier,
the children’s mother, was arrested without incident at approximately 11:49 p.m. at the same
location. The children, ages 10, 7, and 2, remain in the custody of the Division of Child Protection
and Permanency.
The sentencing exposure on each count of third degree Interference with Custody is 3 to 5
years in New Jersey State Prison, and on fourth degree Contempt of a Court order, it is up to 18
months in New Jersey State Prison.
On June 14, 2025, Irene Frazier appeared before the Honorable Toni Damiano, J.M.C. and
was released on pretrial monitoring.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite the accusation, defendants are
presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, in a court of law.
