On May 31, 2025, Millburn Police Officer Genitempo responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the
middle of the roadway on Glen Avenue near Marion Avenue. The driver was observed slumped over the
steering wheel. Following an investigation, Shannon Baruti, 36, of Rockaway, was arrested on suspicion
of driving while intoxicated. A search conducted incident to the arrest uncovered controlled dangerous
substances (CDS) and drug paraphernalia. Baruti was subsequently charged with DWI and possession of
CDS.
On June 9, 2025, Milburn Police Officer Griffin conducted a motor vehicle stop on a gray Honda Accord
at the Short Hills Mall for multiple traffic violations. During the course of the stop, Officer Griffin
observed a controlled dangerous substance in plain view. The driver Tafari Harrison, 25, of East
Orange—was placed under arrest. Harrison was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous subs
On June 10, 2025, Officer Tucker of the Millburn Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on a
blue Mazda MZ3 on Millburn Avenue near Vauxhall Road for multiple traffic violations. During the stop,
it was determined that the driver, William Calloway, 30, of Rahway, had an active arrest warrant issued
by the City of Elizabeth. He was subsequently taken into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed
the presence of suspected controlled dangerous substances (CDS) on Calloway’s person. Further
investigation and a search of the vehicle uncovered additional CDS. The passenger, Paula Barros, 44, of
Elizabeth, admitted ownership of the substances and was also taken into custody. Both Calloway and
Barros were charged with possession of CDS.
On June 13th, Officer Matos conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Dodge Durango at the Short
Hills Mall after determining that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The driver,
identified as Karron Lovelace-Hilton, 39, of Union, was found to have active arrest warrants out of Union
and West Orange. The passenger, Selena Phillips, 26, of Philadelphia, PA, also had an active warrant
issued by Union Township. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered stolen mail, credit cards,
stolen checkbooks, and a quantity of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS). Both individuals were
taken into custody and charged with possession of a CDS, receiving stolen property, forgery, and identity
theft.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or
are found guilty in a court of law.
