TENAFLY, NEW JERSEY
News Update from the Mayor
June 20, 2025
Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
Fantastic news this week, Edan Alexander is back home in Tenafly! Thousands of residents, friends and supporters lined the streets of Tenafly on Thursday to welcome Edan home and show their love. Thank you to the organizers, residents, Police, DPW and the Fire Department for providing all the energy to make Edan’s trip through Tenafly safe and meaningful.
This week, Tenafly is buzzing with opportunities to celebrate the start of summer, spend time outdoors, and give back to our beautiful natural spaces. On Saturday, June 21 at 10:00 am, join us for Nature Story Time at the Nature Center. Perfect for children ages 3 to 7, this event includes a fun nature-themed book and a visit from one of the Center’s Animal Ambassadors. Also on Saturday, at 11:00 am, Seniors are invited to a special Pollinator Party at the Nature Center, hosted in partnership with the Senior Center. Guests will tour the Butterfly House and Pollinator Garden, make seed ball crafts, and enjoy the signs of summer with new friends.
Then on Sunday, June 22, there’s something for everyone. At 10:00 am, roll up your sleeves and protect our forest at Forest Defenders, a volunteer event open to adults, teens, and families working to remove invasive plant species. At 10:30 am, recharge with Heal & Hike, a free guided hike and meditation session for adults, an ideal way to slow down and reconnect. And from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, close out the weekend with a glowing Summer Solstice Campfire & Night Hike for families and nature lovers. Experience the trails at twilight, then gather for s’mores under the stars. All programs require advance registration at www.tenaflynaturecenter.org as space is limited. As we welcome the longest days of the year, I hope you will take time to explore, connect, and care for the world just outside your door. See you on the trails!
Sign up for the Tenafly Swim Team! The summer swim team is open to 5 to 17 year-olds interested in participating in fun, supportive competition. Practices will take place at the Tenafly Municipal Pool (165 Grove St.) on Mondays to Fridays from June 23 to the beginning of August. Meets will be held on a weekly basis. All participants of the swim team must be members of the Tenafly Municipal Pool. Find the registration link and learn more at tenaflyswimteam.org.
