The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue are investigating a fatal fire that occurred in Guttenberg on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Just after 7 a.m., North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue was notified of a fire at 6914 Park Avenue in Guttenberg. Upon arrival, first responders located fire coming from the third floor of the residential structure. During fire suppression activities, firefighters located a male victim – later identified as Marcos Santa-Zayas, 37, of Guttenberg – with serious injuries. He was transported to Palisades Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:20 a.m.
The Cause and Origin are being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
