Reading Rocks at SCLS this August

The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) is pleased to partner with Braen Stone and the Sussex County Miners to provide even more Summer Reading fun this August. Children ages 2 to 12 are invited to dig into books; learn all about earth science, mining, and geology; and earn a prize box.

Program Details:
Dates: August 1 – August 31
Who: Children ages 2 to 12
Where: Visit any local SCLS branch to participate

How to Participate:
  • Starting August 1, 2025, stop by any branch to register and pick up a Log Sheet and Reading List.
  • Read 5 books from ANY of the Braen-Book the Reading Lists.
  • Bring your completed log sheet to any branch and fill out a completion form by August 31st, 2025.

ALL participants who read 5 books from the Braen-Book Reading List will receive a Reading Rocks prize box, which includes:
  • A Braen Stone T-shirt
  • 2 tickets to a 2026 Sussex Miners Baseball Game
  • Notepad & Pen
  • Reusable Cup & Straw
  • Quarry Kids book, Mighty Machines Diggers book, & an issue of Boulder Kids magazine
  • Other Goodies from Braen Stone!

Prize boxes will be delivered in September.

Join the Reading Rocks Kickoff Event:
Join us on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:00 am at the Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike in Newton for a fun-filled launch with stories, music, activities and information about the Reading Rocks program.
