1. On June 5, 2025, at approximately 4 p.m., Police Officers Shyenna Vega and Alyssa Rivera
responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison Street, on reports of a shoplifting. When they arrived, store
security was holding the actor, later identified as 59-year-old Christine Varcadipana of Union
City, in custody. An on-scene investigation revealed Varcadipana was seen concealing
merchandise in a shopping bag in multiple aisles and then walking past checkout, without
paying. She was stopped at the exit. Further investigation revealed Varcadipana had previously
entered the store at approximately 2:20 p.m. the same day, placed merchandise in her bag, and
left without paying. The total value of merchandise in both incidents was approximately $92.
Varcadipana was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. She was charged
with two counts of shoplifting, processed, and released on summonses.
2. On June 5, 2025, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Police Officer Nicholas Losurdo responded to
420 Washington St., Delite Liquor Store, on reports of a shoplifting that had occurred ten
minutes prior. A store employee said the actor had shoplifted in the store five times before, and
this time, took approximately $23 in merchandise, before he left without paying. A description
was given, and the actor was identified as 43-year-old Brian Taylor of New Egypt. He was
located on Pier A a short time later. Tayloe was detained and a search incident to arrest located a
clear cylindrical tube and copper mesh. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters.
During transport he was irate and combative, and continued to act that way inside headquarters
by urinating on the floor. He was found to have a warrant out of Hoboken. He was additionally
charged with shoplifting, possession of drug possession, and refusal to submit fingerprints.
Taylor was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
3. On June 5, 2025, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Union City Police Department officers
transported 22-year-old Bernald Mota of Union City to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was
wanted out of Hoboken for burglary. After being processed by Police Officer Nicholas Losurdo,
Mota was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.3. On June 6, 2025, at
approximately 9:40 a.m., Police Officers Teddy Santiago and Marco Grossman responded to the
500 block of Fifth Street on reports of a man, later identified as 30-year-old Angel Vasquez of
Hoboken, was on the front stoop of a building consuming cannabis and drinking alcohol after he
had already been issued a summons for open container. Sgt. Steven Kranz and Police Officer
Bianca Arroyo arrived on the scene to assist. It was discovered he had a warrant out of Hoboken
for disturbing the peace. He was additionally issued a summons for defiant trespassing and
transported to an area hospital, where he was released.
4. On June 6, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Police Officers Michael Chen and Leroy
Sherrill responded to the Ninth Street Light Rail station on reports of an individual rolling in the
dirt. When they arrived, they observed a man who fit the description given by the caller and
identified him as 43–year-old Julio Ortiz of Union City. When he woke up, Ortiz began to
scream loudly and move around uncontrollably. It was discovered he had a warrant out of
Hoboken, and another out of West New York. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps
arrived and transported Ortiz to a local hospital. A search of his belongings located a cylindrical
glass tube with burnt ends, three empty clear wax folds and a small empty bag, all believed to
have contained CDS, and three rods believed to be drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on the
Hoboken warrant and released on the warrant from West New York. Ortiz was ultimately
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
5. On June 7, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Daniel
Barron responded to the 1100 block of Maxwell La., on reports of a person sleeping behind the
wheel of a vehicle, with the engine still on. They observed a vehicle that matched the description
parked on the sidewalk and met with a witness who had taken the keys away from the driver
after the driver woke up and attempted to drive away. Captain David Olivera, Lt. Christopher
Labruno, and Police Officer Frank Lombardo also responded to the scene. When officers
approached the driver, later identified as 72-year-old Nelson Rosario of Hoboken, he was
observed to have slurred speech and mumbling his words. He also attempted to put the car into
drive, unaware that the keys weren’t in the ignition. Rosario was ordered to exit the vehicle, and
a standardized field sobriety test was performed, after which he was arrested for driving while
intoxicated. He was transported to the Hoboken Police Department where he was processed.
Rosario was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated, driving on a sidewalk, and reckless
driving. As per John’s law, he was released into the custody of a responsible party.
6. On June 8, 2025, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Police Officers Roberto Cuevas and Vincent
Guastini responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., on reports of a disorderly
individual. An on-scene investigation revealed the man, later identified as 54-year-old Pasquale
Gianella of Hoboken, became aggressive toward another man and slapped him on the back of the
head. He was told to leave the shelter. While canvassing the area, the officers observed the
victim leave the shelter, and Pasquale aggressively shove him from behind into the street. The
officers arrested Pasquale for harassment and disorderly conduct. He was transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. He was later released with a summons.
7. On June 8, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Rose Kanan
responded to Sparrow Wine and Liquors, 126 Washington St., on reports of a disorderly person.
Officers observed a man talking loudly to passersby on the 100 block of Washington Street, and
an employee of the wine store identified him as the person who was acting disorderly. Store
employees also told officers the man, later identified as 61-year-old Howard Parker of Brooklyn,
had been removed from the store a few weeks prior due to disorderly behavior, and told he was
not welcome. Parker was then issued a summons for defiant trespassing and released on the
scene.
8. On June 9, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Hoboken Police Officers transported 40-year-old Anthony Iorio of Jersey City, from the Bergen County Correctional Facility where he was a
prisoner, to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Iorio had a warrant out of Hoboken for
shoplifting on May 5, 2025.
9. On June 9, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski, Keven
De La Cruz, and Rose Kanan responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a
shoplifting where store security had two people in custody. An on-scene investigation revealed
one of the women, later identified as 61-year-old Tracey Lyons of Hoboken, was seen concealing
items inside a bag. At check-out, she paid for some of the items but tried to leave with $143.13
worth of unpaid merchandise. She was stopped by security at the exit. It was determined that the
second person was not involved. Lyons was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters. After processing, she was released on a summons.
10. On June 10, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Police Officers Brandon Cappelluti and
Carmen Benitez were conducting a sweep of a Hoboken Housing Authority building on the 600
block of Sixth Street when they observed a man knocking on, and standing in front of, an
apartment on the third floor. It was discovered, the man, later identified as 31-year-old Algenis
Santana of Hoboken didn’t live in the building. He could not provide a valid reason for being
there and when asked, he gave the officers a false name. Sgt. Michael Straten was able to
identify him properly. Santana was arrested for defiant trespassing and hindering apprehension.
It was discovered he had a warrant out of Hoboken for shoplifting. Santana was ultimately
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
11. On June 10, 2025, at approximately 2 a.m., Police Officers David Chicara and Ricky
Truppner responded to the 300 block of Jackson on reports of a stranger knocking on an
apartment door. The located a man who matched the description and later identified him as 37-
year-old Alan Wilson of Jersey City. Sgt. Michael Losurdo, Sgt. Harold Milne, and Police
Officers Domenick Allegretta, Anish Bhisey, and Jairo De La Cruz arrived on the scene to assist.
Wilson had a hard time explaining why he was knocking on the door. When asked for
identification, he produced a Hoboken Housing Authority access card, that did not belong to
him. It was discovered he had an outstanding warrant out of Jersey City, and one out of Hudson
County. He was placed under arrest and taken to an area hospital. Wilson was ultimately
transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility.
12. On June 10, 2025, at approximately 5:55 a.m., Police Officers Daniela Simone and Trevor
Thomas responded to the 400 block of Marshall Drive on reports of a naked man screaming
outside. They found a man who fit the description, but he was fully dressed. Sgt. Michael
Losurdo, Sgt. Harold Milne, and Police Officers Anish Bhisey and Domenick Allegretta arrived
on the scene to assist. The man, identified as 25-year-old Ramiro Quirola-Vergara of
Hackensack, was uncooperative and refused to remove his hand from his pocket when asked to
do so by officers. He threw a burnt glass cylindrical tube on the ground. Quirola-Vergara was
arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with possession of
drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS. He was processed and ultimately transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
13. On June 10, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Police Officer Benitez was in the area of
Sinatra Drive and Maxwell Lane when she was flagged down by a person who told her two
people were possibly having sex on a bench in Maxwell Park, 1025 Maxwell La. The officer
located the individuals and based on her observations, determined they were engaging in a lewd
and offensive act in a public park. Officer David Smentkowski arrived on the scene to assist. The
individuals, identified as 32-year-old Edward Santamaria of Elizabeth and 43-year-old Sugeithly
Perez of Linden, were charged with lewdness and released on the scene.
14. On June 11, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m., Police Officer Remy Garcia-Marte responded
to Hoboken Police Headquarters to process 33-year-old Joel Serrano of Jersey City and 20-year-old Erica Schelmety of Hoboken on charges of theft of moveable property in connection to an
incident reported on April 29, 2025. On that date, Police Officer Arturo Gonzalez responded to
Church Towers on reports of a stroller and purse containing a wallet and cell phone stolen. A
follow up investigation by Police Officer Joshua Campoverde identified Serrano and Schelmety
as the actors. On June 11, they were both formally processed and released from police custody.
15. On June 11, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Police Officers Shyenna Vega and Mark
Mooreman responded to Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave., on reports of a shoplifting. Sgt. Francis
McCourt and Police Officers John Lawton and Alexander Miller arrived on the scene to assist.
While searching the area, officers located a man who matched the description of the actor in the
area of 11th Street and Park Avenue. When he was ordered to stop, the man, later identified as
49-year-old Justin Locascio of Perth Amboy, dropped a bag of items that were later confirmed to
be stolen merchandise. He was placed under arrest. It was discovered he had warrants out of
Jersey City and Bayonne. Locascio was processed on charges of shoplifting. He was ultimately
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
16. On June 11, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Police Officer David Smentkowski observed
a vehicle double parked on the 300 block of Jackson Street. When he activated emergency lights,
the vehicle began to move but failed to stop at a nearby stop sign. When the driver, later
identified as 34-year-old Davon Alston of Elizabeth, was pulled over, he began to honk the car
horn and yell out the window, at one point threatening to shoot the officer. Alson refused to exit
the vehicle. Multiple officers showed up to assist. Alton eventually complied and got out of his
car. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with obstructing the
administration of the law and making terroristic threats. He was also issued a summons for
failing to stop or yield. After being processed, Alston was released on a summons.
