1. On June 12, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Police Officers Donovan Ortiz and Daniela
Simone were on the 300 block of Harrison Street when they observed an individual they could
identify as 48-year-old Jose Mongon of Hoboken, and knew he had an active warrant for his
arrest. Awarrant for assault was confirmed, and Mongon was arrested and additionally charged
with bail jumping. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and
ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
2. On June 12, 2025, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Police officers Brandon Cappelluti and Nick
Valerius responded to Union City Police Headquarters to transport 64-year-ol Rodolfo Hung of
Union City to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Hung, who was arrested in Union City, was wanted
on a warrant out of Hoboken. He was processed on the warrant and ultimately transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
3. On June 12, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Police Officer Valentino Salgado was on
patrol when he observed a man he could identify as 37-year-old Thomas Bates of Hoboken on
the 500 block of Jackson Street, and knew he had an active warrant for his arrest for harassment
and making terroristic threats. Additional units arrived on the scene to assist. When Bates
observed the marked patrol cars, he began to walk at a fast pace, refused to comply with orders
to stop, and sped up in an attempt to flee on foot. Officers pursued and arrested Bates when he
stopped on the 500 block of Marshall Drive. A search incident to arrest located three plastic bags
containing suspected CDS marijuana that appeared to be intended for distribution purposes.
Bates was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and he was charged with possession with
intent to distribute CDS marijuana within 500 feet of a public housing complex, possession of
CDS marijuana, possession of CDS marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a
school zone, obstructing the administration of the law, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He
was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
4. On June 13, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Police Officer Valentino Salgado responded to
ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting that occurred earlier in the day. Officer
Salgado searched the area and observed a man who fit the description of the actor at the Ninth
Street Light Rail Station. Police Officer Roberto Cuevas arrived on the scene to assist. Store
security confirmed the man, later identified as 36-year-old Thomas Antoine of Jersey City, was
the individual who tried to leave the store earlier with items he hadn’t paid for, but left without
those items after security stopped him. He was placed under arrest and a search incident found
him to be in possession of a glass cylindrical pipe burnt on both ends. He was transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting and possession of drug
paraphernalia. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
5. On June 13, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Police Officer John Rodriguez, was on patrol
in Church Square Park, when he observed a man lying on a bench. The man, later identified as
55-year-old Donald Gilbert of Hoboken, was sleeping. The officer woke him up and issued him a
summons for lying down on the bench. Gilbert was asked to leave the park because he was
exposing himself to the public due to his pants falling down. Gilbert refused to leave the park. It
was found he had two open warrants out of Hoboken and was arrested for bail jumping. He was
ultimately released from custody at an area hospital.
6. On June 14, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas, David
Chicara, Zackary Guido, and Ronald Kibitlewski responded to the area of Second and
Bloomfield Streets on reports of a motor vehicle crash. An on-scene investigation revealed a
driver, later identified as 27-year-old Gurprem Brar of Paramus, hit a parked vehicle as he turned
onto Bloomfield Street, injuring the driver sitting inside. The impact caused the second vehicle to
strike another, causing a chain reaction that ultimately damaged four parked cars in total. Brar,
fled the scene of the accident, but within minutes, Police Officer Michael Aviles observed a
vehicle that matched the description provided by the caller, that had front end damage consistent
with the earlier crash. Brar was pulled over, and his speech was observed to be slurred. A field
sobriety test was conducted, after which it was determined that Brar was unable to operate a
motor vehicle safely, and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Brar was transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with assault by auto. He was issued summonses for
driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of
an accident. As per John’s Law, he was ultimately released into the custody of a responsible
party.
7. On June 14, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sgt. Steven Kranz, Sgt. Barbro James and
Police Officers Daniel Barron and Jonathan Figueroa responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St.,
on reports of a shoplifting. An on-scene investigation revealed an individual, later identified as
Rishi Beriwala, was seen placing into a cart, and then putting bags on top of certain items, as if
to conceal them. He was seen scanning only some of the items in his cart and then trying to leave
without paying $149.42 worth of merchandise before being stopped by store security. Beriwala
was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. After being
processed, he was released on a summons.
8. On June 14, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Police Officers Shawn Sodora and Anthony
Hochstadter responded to the area of Second and Washington Streets on reports of a possible
intoxicated driver. When they arrived, they located a car that matched the description given by
the caller on the 100 block of Washington Street. A few minutes later, a woman was observed
stumbling as she got into the driver's seat. Sgt. Steven Kranz approached the woman, identified
as 61-year-old Patrys Pearah of Dallas, Tx, and took the keys from her. Police Officer Anthony
Rutkowski arrived on the scene to conduct a standardized field sobriety test, after which she was
deemed to be unable to operate a motor vehicle safely, and was placed under arrest for driving
while intoxicated. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed. As per
John’s Law, she was ultimately released into the custody of a responsible party.
9. On June 14, 2025, at approximately 8:05 p.m., Police Officers Mario Rodriguez and
Valentino Salgado were patrolling the area of Second and Jackson Streets when they observed a
vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and driving at a high rate of speed. They pulled the vehicle over,
and the driver, later identified as 27-year-old Jaida Martinez of Jersey City, was unable to
provide a valid driver’s license. It was discovered Martinez had two failure to appear warrants,
one out of Madison and the other out of Jersey City. She was placed under arrest for bail
jumping and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. She was issued tickets for driving
with a suspended license and for running a stop sign. She was later released on bail.
10. On June 15, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Police Officers Frank Losurdo and Giovanni
Cruzado were on patrol in the area of Newark and Hudson Streets, when they observed a group
of women fighting. They activated lights and sirens and approached the area. While officers
attempted to separate the group, one individual, later identified as 21-year-old Caroline Gil of
Passaic, forced her way through the crowd, hit another woman, and pulled her hair. Gil was
arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she was
processed and released on a summons.
11. On June 15, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Sgt. Steven Kranz and Police Officers Daniel
Barron, Frank Lombardo, and Marco Grossman responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300
Bloomfield St., on reports of a disorderly individual inside the shelter. When they arrived, the
man had left. An on-scene investigation determined the individual, later identified as 55-year-old
Glenn Gilliard of Jersey City, was screaming and causing a commotion and was asked to leave,
as he had previously been banned from the shelter. Sgt. James Barbro James and Police Officer
Christopher Barral observed a man who fit the description of the actor nearby and approached
him. Gilliard began walking away and then tried to run when officers told him he was being
detained. Officers were able to stop him, and he resisted their initial attempts to handcuff him.
Lt. Christopher LaBruno and Police Officers Jessica Pizanie, Nasir Willey, and Shawn Sodora
arrived on scene the scene to assist, and they were able to arrest Gillard, but not before he injured
some of them, bit one, and spit into another's mouth and eye. He also threatened to kill them all.
Gilliard was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he refused to walk, and
therefore had to be carried in. Once inside, he continued to fight with the officers, spit at them,
scream, and kick items in his cell. He refused to be fingerprinted and photographed. Gilliard was
charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of throwing
bodily fluid at certain law enforcement officers, resisting arrest, obstruction of the administration
of the law, making terroristic threats, and refusal to be fingerprinted. He was found to have a
warrant for harassment out of Jersey City and one out of Hoboken for failure to pay a prescribed
fare. Gilliard was ultimately transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters.
12. On June 15, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Police Officers Alyssa Rivera and Dylan
Archilla responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., on reports of an individual who
was involved in a prior incident, was on property. Upon arrival, they were told the individual
was in a vehicle nearby. Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Valentino Salgado and Christopher
Soto arrived on the scene and located a vehicle that matched a description given. Officers
approached the vehicle, and located a man later identified as 31-year-old Santiago Guerra-Medina of Hoboken. It was discovered that his license and registration were suspended, and that
he had two outstanding warrants out of Hoboken. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters. Guerra-Medina was charged with bail jumping and issued a summons for having
an unregistered vehicle and for driving while license is suspended. He was ultimately transported
to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
13. On June 15, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Police Officers Christopher Soto and Frank
Lombardi responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor
was being detained by store security. An on-scene investigation revealed the individual, later
identified as 33-year-old Alijha Garcia of Jersey City, was seen putting items into a reusable bag,
appearing to conceal the merchandise. She also put some items into a shopping cart. When she
got to check-out, she only paid for the items in her cart, and not those hidden in the bag. Store
security stopped her when she tried to exit and found her in possession of approximately $113
worth of unpaid items. Garcia was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters. She was processed and released on a summons.
14. On June 16, 2025, at approximately 5:05 a.m., Police Officers Ronald Kibitlewski and
Ahmed Makshat were on patrol in the area of Second and Adams Street when they heard
someone scream in a manner that officers thought the person was in life threatening danger.
Officers observed the individual screaming, later identified as 28-year-old Misael Espinoza of
West New York, and approached him. Sgt. Michael Losurdo and Police Officers Anish Bhisey,
David Chicara, Donovan Ortiz, and Jayden Gonzalez arrived on the scene to assist. It was
determined he had been screaming for no apparent reason. Espinoza was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on a summons.
15. On June 17, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Olivera and Daniel
Barron were near the intersection of Second and Hudson Streets when they observed a vehicle
stopped. The car didn’t move, even after the sirens were activated. They knocked on the window
and observed the driver who appeared to be sleeping. When the driver, later identified as 36-
year-old Robert Blackwell of Dumont, woke up and lowered the window, he was sweating, and
his pupils were dilated. He was ordered to pull his vehicle out of the way of traffic and asked for
his identification and credentials, which he provided. Police Officer Harry Montalvo arrived on
the scene to conduct a field sobriety test after which it was determined that Blackwell was unable
to operate a motor vehicle safely and was placed under arrest. A search of his vehicle observed
approximately 1,000 empty wax folds and 390 full wax folds containing CDS heroin. Blackwell
was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with possession with intent to
distribute CDS heroin, possession of CDS heroin within 1000 feet of a school, possession of
CDS heroin within 500 feet of a public building, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was
also issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of CDS in a
motor vehicle, and obstructing traffic. He was ultimately released from police custody at a local
hospital on a summons.
16. On June 17, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski and
Zackary Guido were on the 300 block of Jackson Street when they observed an individual they
could identify as 22-year-old Ahmad Bryant of Hoboken, who they knew had an open warrant.
The warrant was confirmed, and they arrested Bryant. A search incident to arrest located a small
clear plastic tube and a wax fold with a brown granular substance suspected to be CDS heroin.
Bryant was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS. He was
transported to Hoboken Police headquarters for processing. He was ultimately transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
17. On June 18, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt. John Quinones, and
Police Officers Marc Lombardi and John Lawton responded to CVS, 59 Washington St., on
reports of a man threatening to fight CVS employees. Upon arrival, an individual, later
identified as 43-year-old Latife Robinson of Jersey City, began yelling obscenities at the
officers. An on-scene investigation revealed that Robinson had shoplifted approximately $17
worth of merchandise from the store and also threatened employees with physical violence.
During the investigation, another individual, later identified as 28-year-old Eric Turonis of
Hoboken, began to interfere. Turonis was advised to step back. At this time, Robinson began
to walk away. When he was ordered to stop walking, Robinson dropped his bags, clenched his
fists, and threatened officers. During Robinson's arrest, Turonis ran around officers yelling
more obscenities at them. Turonis also jumped on the Sergeants in an attempt to prevent them
from arresting Robinson. Turonis was placed under arrest. During that arrest, Turonis kicked
officers and swung their arms at police in an attempt to resist, causing injuries to an officer.
Sgt. William Collins, Det. Fabian Quinones, Det. Jesse Castellano, Det. Paul Quinn, Det.
Connor Milne, and Police Officers Anthony Azzoline, Nicholas Protopapadakis, Rose Kanan,
Joseph Lupo, and Andrias Bonilla arrived on the scene to assist. Turonis and Robinson were
both eventually handcuffed. Turonis was ultimately transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters where he refused to be fingerprinted. Turonis was charged with hindering
another by force, resisting arrest with physical force, aggravated assault on a police officer,
criminal mischief, obstructing the administration of the law, and refusing to be fingerprinted.
Robinson was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with robbery, making
terroristic threats, obstructing the administration of the law, and disorderly conduct. After
processing, Robinson was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
