1. On June 19, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Sgt. Harold Milne and Police Officers
Nicholas Losurdo, Marvin Dejesus, and Brandon Cappellutti responded to the 1300 block of
Washington Streeton on reports of a fight inside a residential unit. An on-scene investigation
revealed the aggressor in the fight, later identified as 30-year-old Giovanni Garcia of Hoboken,
purposefully caused damage to another person’s vehicle by hitting a passenger side mirror. It
was also determined Garcia had stolen cash and a debit card from another person. Garcia was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal
mischief, and theft and ultimately released on a summons.
2. On June 19, 2025, at approximately 8:05 a.m., Police Officer Anthony Olivera responded to
ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting with the actor in custody of store security.
An on-scene investigation revealed the individual, later identified as 62-year-old Nicola Brando
of Towaco, had taken multiple items worth approximately $255 in total. Brando was transported
to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed on shoplifting charges, and released on a summons.
3. On June 19, 2025, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Police Officer
Alexander Miller responded to Santander Bank, 214 Washington St., on reports of a man acting
disorderly. When they arrived, they observed the individual, who they could identify as 41-year-old Lamar Woodward of Hoboken, sitting in front of the bank. When he saw the officers,
Woodward got up and started to walk away. It was discovered he had warrants out of Hoboken
and Jersey City and was placed under arrest. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters, processed, and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility
without incident.
4. On June 19, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and Alexander
Miller were on the 200 block of Washington Street, when they observed 43-year-old Brian
Taylor of New Egypt and knew he had an active warrant for a shoplifting that took place the day
before. That report was taken by Police Officers Shyenna Vega and Joseph Lupo who responded
to Delite Liquor Store, 420 Washington St where an on-scene investigation revealed the actor,
who they could identify as Taylor, grabbed a package of hard seltzer and left without paying. On
June 19, after the warrant was confirmed, Taylor was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters for processing. He was ultimately transported to Hudson County Correctional
Facility.
5. On June 20, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Police Officers John Rodriguez and Sheynna
Vega responded to the 50 block of Washington Street on reports of an individual acting
disorderly. Officers assisted members of the Hoboken Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in
attempting to control the woman, later identified as 31-year-old Andrea Ojed of Miami, FL., who
it was learned, had been rolling around on the floor and on top of vehicles. Sgt. Roary Miller
arrived on the scene to assist. Officers observed damage to one of the nearby vehicles. Ojed was
placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief. She was transported to an area hospital,
where she was released on a summons.
6. On June 21, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Police Officers Aidan Gonzalez and Daniela
Simone responded to the intersection of Third and River Streets on reports of a dispute. Sgt.
Roary Miller, Sgt. Harold Milne, and Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo, David Smentkowski,
and Michael Aviles also responded. An on-scene investigation determined that during the
dispute, one of the men involved, later identified as Miguel Burneo, became physical and
grabbed another person's wrist, causing the victims watch to break. Burneo then broke an empty
glass bottle and waved it at the other man in a threatening manner. Burneo was placed under
arrest and charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes,
unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, and harassment. He was transported to
Hoboken Police Headquartesr for processing and ultimately released on a summons.
7. On June 21, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Alexander
Miller, Valentino Salgado, and Mario Rodriguez responded to ResilienCity Park, 1201 Madison
St., on reports of a disturbance at the park. An on-scene investigation determined a man, later
identified as 42-year-old Darnell Gleason of Hoboken, got out of his car and threatened to injure
people with a bat. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Gleason
was charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose,
unlawful possession of a weapon. After being processed, he was transported to the Hudson
County Correctional Facility without incident.
8. On June 22, 2025, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Police Officer Roberto Cuevas responded to
Church Square Park, 400 Garden St., on reports of a man chasing women. When he arrived, he
was approached by a group of juveniles who pointed out a man who had been following them
and making inappropriate comments of a sexual nature to them. Following an on-scene
investigation, the individual, identified as 42-year-old Akendo Johnson of the Bronx, was placed
under arrest for endangering the welfare of a child, making terroristic threats, and stalking. He
was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was processed and transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
9. On June 22, 2025, at approximately 3:05 a.m., Police Officers Kyle Seper and Zackary Guido
responded to the 50 block of Washington Street, on reports of a fight. Upon arrival, the officers
observed an individual, later identified as 23-year-old Nicholas Araya-Quesada of Bridgewater,
actively stomping and kicking another person on the ground. Araya-Quesada was arrested.
Another actor, later identified as 23-year-old Ricardo Mexica of West New York, was observed
restraining and pinning another victim on the ground. He was also placed under arrest. Police
Officers Trevor Thomas, Michael Aviles, Cynthia Rivera, and Marvin DeJesus arrived on the
scene to assist. A third person, later identified as 22-year-old Diego Jimenez of Westville,
approached officers and began to shout at them and advance toward them while they were
making the other arrests. Jimenez was told multiple times to step back, but he refused and was
arrested. All three arrestees were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing.
Araya-Quesada and Mexica were charged with simple assault. Jimenez was charged with
disorderly conduct. All three were released on summonses.
10. On June 23, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m., Union City Police officers transported 36-year-old Jamill Brimley of Harrison to Hoboken Police Headquarters to be processed on a warrant out
of Hoboken for theft. It was discovered he also had warrants out of South Hackensack and
Paterson. After being processed by Police Officer Ronald Kibitlewski, Brimley was transported
to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
11. On June 23, 2025, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Police Officers Mario Rodriguez and
Valentino Salgado were patrolling on the 200 block of Jackson Street when they observed a
vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. They conducted a traffic stop and the driver, later identified as
40-year-old David Alicea of Hoboken, could not provide a valid driver's license. It was
discovered Alicea had a warrant out of Hudson County, and he was arrested. He was transported
to Hoboken Police Headquarters and ultimately taken to the Hudson County Correctional
Facility.
12. On June 24, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo observed a vehicle in
the parking lot of ACME, 614 Clinton St., with all four doors open. Police Officers Jaydan
Gonzalez, Donovan Ortiz, David Chicara, and Anish Bhisey responded and approached a man,
later identified as 67-year-old Kenneth McCarty of Broken Arrow, OK, who was with the
vehicle. Officers could see 9mm Hollow Point bullets inside the car. A further search located a
total of 11 Hollow Point rounds in a box. McCarty was placed under arrest for possession of
prohibited armor piercing rounds. It was also discovered that the license plate on the vehicle was
fictitious, and the vehicle registration was expired. McCarty received summonses for having an
unregistered vehicle and improper or fictitious plates. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters, processed, and released with a summons.
13. On June 24, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Police Officers Christopher Barral and
Remy Garcia-Marte responded to the 400 block of Washington Street on reports of an individual
knocking over planters. Upon arrival, they observed that at least one planter had been knocked
over. Police Officer Tyrone Huggins saw a man who fit the description of the actor and stopped
him near the intersection of First and Washington Streets. He was identified as 33-year-old
Joseph Catagnus of Hoboken, issued a complaint for disorderly conduct, and released on the
scene.
14. On June 25, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Sgt. Daniel Grossi was near the intersection
of Newark and Adams Streets and observed a vehicle parked improperly, with the ignition on,
and someone slumped over behind the wheel. Police Officer Domenick Allegretta arrived on the
scene to assist. The individual woke up and ignored requests to turn off the car and get out from
behind the wheel. He also ignored the officers while speaking on his cell phone. When officers
shut off the car for him, the man, identified as 41-year-old Fabrico Cuev-Bustos of West New
York, appeared incoherent. He continuously put his hand inside his pockets after being told not
to numerous times. A field sobriety test was conducted, after which Cuev-Bustos was arrested
for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and
additionally issued summonses for improper parking and reckless driving. As per John’s Law, he
was later released into the custody of a responsible party.
15. On June 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Isaiah Chia was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters by Hudson County Sheriff's Officers after he was detained during a motor
vehicle stop and it was confirmed he had an active outstanding warrant in Hoboken for failure to
appear on a traffic violation. Chia was processed on the warrant and released on bail with a court
date.
16. On June 25, 2025, at approximately 10:35 a.m., Police Officer Christopher Barral was on
patrol in Church Square Park when he was approached by a resident who stated there was an
individual yelling and screaming at children in the park. The officer observed the woman, later
identified as 49-year-old Omolayo Akinkunle of Hoboken, aggressively pointing, gesturing, and
screaming at children in the area. When he approached Akinkunle, she began screaming at the
officer, pointed her fingers in the shape of a gun at him, and yelled “boom.” The officer
attempted to arrest Akinkunle, but she resisted. Police Officer Elias Colon arrived on the scene to
assist and Akinkunle was placed in handcuffs. She was ultimately transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, endangering the welfare of
a child, disorderly conduct, making terroristic threats, and resisting arrest. She was processed and
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility
