A 17-year-old male charged in connection with the 2024 fatal shooting of Resheed Wallace has been waived up to Criminal Court and will be prosecuted as an adult.
Kaison Brown, of South Amboy, is charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A.2C:11-3a(1)/(2); Felony Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3); Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a and 2C:15-1a(1); Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 39-4a(1); and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1).
On Friday, May 10, 2024, shortly before 10 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Pearsall Avenue and Garfield Avenue. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Resheed Wallace, 24, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 10:25 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a Gunshot Wound to the Upper Body and the Manner to be Homicide.
Two additional individuals have been charged in this matter.
Makiyy Randolph, 22, of Paterson is charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1)/(2); Felony Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3); Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a and 2C:15-1a(1); Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1). He was arrested on Friday, July 12, 2024, on Gates Avenue in Jersey City after a brief foot pursuit. Randolph was additionally charged with Obstruction in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-1a and Resisting Arrest by Flight in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2a(2).
A 14-year-old female is charged as a juvenile with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A.2C:11-3a(1)/(2); Felony Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3); Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a and 2C:15-1a(1); Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 39-4a(1); and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1).
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the investigation and arrests. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants and juvenile are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
