
1. On July 3, 2025, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Sgt. Daniel Grossi was on the 300 block of
Jackson Street when he observed a dispute. Police Officers Brandon Cappelluti and Carmen
Benitez responded. An on-scene investigation determined an individual, later identified as
Wendall Hill, swung a softball bat in the direction of another man, later identified as Hakeen
High, who responded by throwing a glass bottle at Hall. Sgt. Michael Losurdo, Sgt. Michael
Straten, and Police Officers Jayden Gonzalez, Ricky Truppner, Brian Kim, Christopher Soto,
Jairo De La Cruz, Michael Chen, and David Chicara arrived on the scene to assist. Both men
were arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. High was later transported to an
area hospital to be treated for injuries. He was charged with disorderly conduct and released on
summons. Hill was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and
possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for
driving without a license and reckless driving. Hill was ultimately released from custody.
2. On July 3, 2025, at approximately10:45 a.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey and Jessica Pizanie
responded to the 500 block of Ninth Street, on reports of a driver obstructing the flow of traffic.
When they arrived, they observed a vehicle that matched a description given by callers. The
driver, later identified as John Allison, was ordered to turn off the car. Allison was observed to
have slurred speech, and he was acting fidgety and hyper. Police Officer Harry Montalvo arrived
to perform a field sobriety test, after which, Allison was arrested for driving under the influence.
He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and issued summonses for driving under the
influence, reckless driving, and obstructing the passage of other vehicles. As per John’s Law, he
was released into the custody of a responsible party.
3. On July 4, 2025, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Police Officers Christopher Soto, Marc
Lombardi, and Anthony Rutkowski responded to a unit in Marine View, on reports that a woman
wanted a family member removed from her home. Sgt. Harold Milne arrived on the scene to
assist. During an on-scene investigation, the woman, identified as 56-year-old Jennifer
Spadavecchia of Hoboken, became agitated and tried to slam the door on some of the officers.
When she was told the door had to stay open, she picked up a broom and began hitting one of the
officers on the legs in an attempt to force him out. Spadavecchia was told she was being placed
under arrest and began to resist by pulling away and then flailing her arms. Officers were able to
place her in handcuffs and as she was being taken out of the apartment, she spat at one of the
officers, hitting him in the face. Police Officers Michale Aviles and Jonathan Figueroa arrived on
the scene to assist. Spadavecchia was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged
with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, throwing bodily fluid at certain law
enforcement officers, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a
weapon, and resisting arrest. She was ultimately released from custody.
4. On July 5, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Police Officers Ricky Truppner and Trevor
Thomas were on the 100 block of River Street when they observed a group of individuals in a
dispute. One of them, later identified as 26-year-old Tanya Singh of the Bronx, was seen trying
to grab a phone in someone else's hands. When officers activated their lights and told Singh to
stop, she charged at another woman and began to strike her and pull her hair. Officers pulled
Singh away from the victim, but she wouldn’t let go of the other woman’s hair. Once she let go,
she was arrested for simple assault and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. She was
processed and released on a summons.
5. On July 5, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo was flagged down by a
security guard at Green Rock, 70 Hudson Pl., because a man wouldn’t leave the bar. Police
Officers Carmen Benitez and Nicklas Valerius arrived on the scene to assist. An on-scene
investigation determined the man, later identified as 33-year-old John Samaan of North
Arlington, had been kicked out for harassing women inside of the bar and taking off his t-shirt
after being told repeatedly to stop doing so. During the investigation Samaan walked back
toward the bar and rolled up his sleeves, as if he was ready to fight. When officers told him he
had to walk away, he began to yell at them. He was told if he didn’t walk away, he would be
arrested. Samaan refused to leave, and when he was being placed under arrest, he resisted. He
was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with disorderly conduct and
resisting arrest. He was released on a summons after processing.
6. On July 5, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Police Officer Valentino Salgado was waved
down by an individual on the 100 block of Hudson Street, who had lost his cell phone and
realized it was at Hoboken Police Headquarters. When they arrived at HPD, the man was
identified as 44-year-old Luis Rosario of Jersey City and it was discovered he had a warrant for
aggravated assault reported on June 7, 2025, in which Rosario was determined to have knocked
down another person, causing serious injuries. He was processed and transported to the Hudson
County Correctional Facility.
7. On July 6, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Sgt. Roary Miller was on the 200 block of
Newark Street when he saw a car parked with the driver’s side door open and a man sleeping
behind the wheel. When he woke up the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Beshoy Shenouda
of Jersey City, he appeared to be confused and had watery eyes and slow speech. Police Officers
Ricky Truppner and Daniela Simone arrived to assist. A standard field sobriety test was
performed, after which Shenouda was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A search of the car
located a small empty bottle of vodka in the glove compartment. He was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters where he refused to provide breath samples. He was issued summonses for
driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, refusal to
consent to breath samples, and refusal to submit to chemical testing. As per John’s Law, he was
released into the custody of a responsible party.
8. On July 6, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police Officers David
Smentkowski, Alexander Miller, Frank Losurdo, and Mario Rodriguez responded to the 50 block
of Washington Street on reports of a fight next to a vehicle. A man, later identified as 28-year-old Jose Ferreras of Bergenfield was found sitting inside a car that matched a description of the
vehicle given by callers. Ferraras was told to get out of the car. During the on-scene
investigation, he tried to walk toward the vehicle, even after being told to stop and stay on the
sidewalk. When one of the officers attempted to stop him by holding his arm, Ferreras turned and
held the officer's arm. He also began to yell at officers and walked into the street as cars were
driving by. He was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of the law and
disorderly conduct. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released
on a summons.
9. On July 7, 2025, at approximately 6:25 a.m., Sgt. Daniel Grossi and Police Officers Michael
Aviles and Trevor Thomas responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., on reports of
a man who was removed from the shelter for walking around naked. They located the man they
could identify as 43-year-old Delwin Gabriel of Hoboken outside of the shelter, acting disorderly
by yelling and waving around a cast iron pipe that was about 36” in length. When Gabriel saw
the officers, he threw the pipe over a fence. Gabriel was placed under arrest and transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on charges of unlawful possession of a
weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, certain persons not to have weapons, and
disorderly conduct. He was found to have an active warrant out of Hudson County. He was
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
10. On July 8, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas and Anish
Bhisey transported Joseph Ramirez from the State Police Barracks in Newark to Hoboken Police
Headquarters where he had a warrant on a traffic summons. After being processed, Ramirez was
released on bail.
11. On July 8, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski and
Michael Chen were on patrol when it was discovered the driver of a vehicle on Washington
Street had a warrant out of Union City. The car also had tinted windows. They conducted a
motor vehicle stop and the driver was identified as 25-year-old Matthew Nazario of Fairview.
The warrant was confirmed, and Nazario was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters. He was also issued a summons for having tinted windows. He was ultimately
released from custody.
12. On July 8, 2025, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Police Officers David Smentkowski and
Michael Chen were on patrol when it was discovered the driver of a vehicle on Washington
Street had an open warrant out of Kearny, and that the vehicle had an expired registration. They
stopped the car and identified the driver as 24-year-old Nathaniel Coris of Kearny. He was
arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was issued a summons for
driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He was released from police custody.
13. On July 8, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Police Officer Bianca Arroyo responded to
Hoboken Police Headquarters to process the arrest of 46-year-old Larone Ferguson of Hoboken.
Ferguson was wanted on a summons for theft that was reported on May 1, 2025, where someone
stole money from a laundry room in a building on the 300 block of Harrison Street. A follow up
investigation by Police Officer Jason Montalvo identified Ferguson as the actor. After processing
on July 8, Ferguson was released from custody.
14. On July 8, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Police Officers Michael Chen and Vincent
Salgado were conducting a sweep of a Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) building on the 500
block of Marshall Drive when they encountered a man they could identify as 49-year-old Jeffery
Wheeler of Hoboken, and knew he did not live in the building. He could not provide a valid
reason for being there and it was determined Wheeler was trespassing. He was placed under
arrest and a search located a soda can cut into a cylindrical shaped pipe stuffed with burnt copper
mesh and a small white rock-like substance suspected to be CDS crack cocaine. Wheeler was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with burglary, possession of CDS, and
possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County
Correctional Facility.
15. On July 9, 2025, at approximately 12 p.m., Police Officers Aaron Font responded to ACME,
614 Clinton St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was seen taking two steaks, putting
them in his pockets, and leaving without paying. Sgt. William Collins spotted a man who fit the
description walking on Madison Street near Sixth Street. Police Officers Font and Ramon
Estrella arrived. The man, later identified as 30-year-old Edgar Najera of Hoboken, was stopped
and officers could see a steak in his possession. He was subsequently found to have the second as
well. A search incident to arrest located a metal push rod, a glass cylindrical tube with burnt steel
wool, and as a small caplet with white powder residue commonly used for the purposes of
concealing CDS. Najera was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with
shoplifting and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
