Teenage Burglary Suspect Apprehended with Firearm in Harrison

On August 3, 2025, at approximately 7 pm, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Sussex Street on a report of two males on a green moped attempting to take a vehicle. Earlier in the day, the vehicle in question was burglarized and a key card was taken from the vehicle. The caller advised police that the suspects were back in the area.

Police set a surveillance team in the area, at approximately 9 pm, police observed a green moped with two riders stop in the area and run up a driveway. Police attempted to stop the suspects who began to flee the scene. After a brief foot pursuit, one suspect was apprehended. Search incident to arrest, a handgun was recovered.

An exhaustive check was done for the second suspect with negative results.

The 17-year-old male out of Newark, NJ was charged accordingly and turned over to the Essex County Youth Correction Facility.
