Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 25-year-old RYAN J. CURTIN of Oakland, NJ on charges of production of child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material, and invasion of privacy. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Ramsey Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Lyman.
In April 2025, the Ramsey Police Department responded to Tiger Schulman’s Martial Arts at 885 Route 17 South in Ramsey, NJ to recover a hidden camera discovered inside of the publicly accessible restroom of the establishment. An investigation by the Ramsey Police Department revealed that RYAN J. CURTIN, an employee of the business, placed the camera in the restroom and recorded at least one adult patron. Consequently, CURTIN was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree invasion of privacy, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9B(2), and released pending further court action.
Subsequently, the Ramsey Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit of the incident. Detectives from both the Cyber Crimes Unit and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Digital Forensics Lab continued the investigation into the hidden camera activity. Ultimately, the continuing investigation revealed that RYAN J. CURTIN placed the hidden camera in the female restroom and recorded multiple victims, including children, in various stages of undress while they utilized the bathroom.
As a result of the additional investigation, RYAN J. CURTIN was arrested on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Paramus, NJ and charged with two counts of second-degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)4; one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii); and seven counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9(b). CURTIN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Ramsey Police Department for their assistance with this investigation. Moreover, Prosecutor Musella recognizes the New York City Police Department and the Oakland Police Department for their assistance. Finally, Prosecutor Musella thanks the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Norwood Police Department, and Washington Township Police Department, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
