Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
Please remember that our family dogs are required to be leashed when out for a walk. We had two separate incidents this past week when owners allowed their dogs to be unleashed resulting in unprovoked attacks. Please leash your dog when out for walks.
Our DPW has launched a new book recycling program so we can donate unwanted books, which will help reduce waste in landfills, promote the reuse of valuable resources, and make literature more accessible to others. The book recycling bin is now available at the Recycling Center.
Tonight, Friday, September 5, it is Tiger football at HOME vs Indian Hills. Kickoff time is 7:00 pm on Geissenger Field. See you there.
Tennis fans - today Friday, September 5 through Sunday, September 7, Tenafly is hosting a U.S. Open watch party complete with a Jumbotron in Huyler Park. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy terrific food from our downtown restaurants. Details are posted on the Borough website. This is going to be a fabulous community event for everyone. Bring the kids and come join in the fun!
This Saturday, September 6 is the annual Elks Clambake. From 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm enjoy a live band and all you can eat at this popular Tenafly event, outdoors at the Elks lodge on Franklin Street. $45 per person.
September brings hands-on fun and cozy evenings to the Nature Center! Kick off the month with Crafty Critters on September 6 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Meet a live animal and let your imagination soar with a creative art project.
Every Sunday from September 7 to October 19, join us for Apple Cider Making. Help press apples, taste fresh cider, and learn about this fall tradition at the Nature Center.
Don't miss Campfire & Cocktails on September 13: enjoy craft drinks, gourmet bites, music, and fireside community, all in support of our Accessible Trail Project. Ticket sales end soon! September is for creators, cider lovers, and nature friends, register today at tenaflynaturecenter.org!
Save the date for the 11th Annual Community Night on Tuesday, September 9, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Food, drinks, entertainment, amusement rides, DJ, live music, local businesses, emergency demos, giveaways and more. Come join your neighbors and show your love for our community!
Poets Café, Sunday, September 14 at 4 pm at the Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia Avenue. Special guest, Tami Luchow, Tenafly poet and artist. Come along and enjoy a talk with Tami on the theme of creativity, and hear her read some of her work. Bring along your favorite poem to share and try out a bit of writing on the spot too!
