Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
This Saturday, September 13 is Escape New York, the New York Cycle Club’s annual cycling tradition. For a portion of their route the riders will travel along County Road in Tenafly, so please be on the lookout throughout town and drive safely especially on County Road.
September brings adventure and stewardship to the Nature Center! On September 13 and 14, families can team up for the Seasonal Scavenger Hunt and solve nature riddles along the trails and discover hidden wonders.
In the evening on Saturday, September 13, enjoy Campfire & Cocktails featuring craft drinks, gourmet bites, and a magical evening under the stars, all for a great cause.
Enjoy the crisp air on Sunday morning September 14 and join Forest Defenders from 10 am to 12 pm. Help protect the Nature Center from invasive plants, making a real impact on local conservation. Or clear your mind and connect with nature at Heal and Hike, a guided hike and meditation from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm Sunday presented in partnership with the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine.
Every Sunday until October 19, join in traditional Apple Cider Making. Help press apples and taste the fruits of your labor. Whether you love exploring, lending a hand in nature, or celebrating with friends, there’s something for everyone. Register at tenaflynaturecenter.org!
The Tenafly Library Friends will begin their monthly Tuesday Afternoon Movies series with the well received movie, A Woman In Paris. This 1923 silent drama written, produced, and directed by Charlie Chaplin will be shown free of charge at the Tenafly Library on Tuesday, September 16 at 1:00 pm. No registration is necessary.
It’s Poets Café, Sunday, September 14 at 4:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia Avenue. Special guest, Tami Luchow, Tenafly poet and artist. Come along and enjoy a talk with Tami on the theme of creativity, and hear her read some of her work. Bring along your favorite poem to share and try out a bit of writing on the spot too! ACEing Autism kicks off its fall season at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. Beginning Sunday September 21, at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm, and continuing for five consecutive weeks, ACEing helps children benefit from social connections, fitness and fun. If you are interested in signing up your child ages 5 to 18 to participate, or if high school students and adults want to volunteer, please email kaplenjcc@ACEingautism.org . No tennis experience is required.
