North Bergen Police Officer Arrested for Theft

On Monday, September 15, 2025, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Unit arrested a North Bergen Police Officer following a theft investigation.

Rasheed Siyam, 27, is charged with Theft by Deception (False Impression) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4a, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025.

The investigation found that on various dates between November 2024 and May 2025, Siyam returned to his home while on duty for extended periods of time. He remained home over 130 hours beyond department approved meal breaks.

The above charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
