Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter: August 28, 2025 to September 3, 2025

1. On August 28, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Police Officers Jaydan Gonzalez and Donovan Ortiz responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a man outside the main entrance of the store. An on-scene investigation revealed the individual, later identified as 47- year-old David Cummings of Hoboken, tried to get into the store, which was closed, and fell to the ground after he was told to leave by overnight security. Sgt. Michael Losurdo and Police Officers Daneila Simone and Domenick Allegretta arrived to assist. Officers tracked down Cummings, but he refused to stop and talk with them. He continued to walk away, despite numerous commands to stop. Cummings was arrested for obstruction. A search incident to arrest, located a cigarette that had been dipped into phencyclidine (PCP) and a small jar containing a small amount of brown liquid, believed to be CDS PCP. He was charged with possession of phencyclidine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to make proper disposition of CDS, and obstructing the administration of law. Cummings was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he was released with a summons.

2. On August 28, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Police Officers Jessica Pizanie, Christopher Hatfield, Jason Montalvo, Joshua Campoverde, Anthony Ingraffia, Joseph DiMartino, Tyrone Huggins, Ramon Estrella, Aidan Gonzalez, Elias Colon, and Christopher Barral responded to Hoboken University Medical Center on reports of a combative patient, later identified as 19-year-old Neythan Pujols of Union City. During the response, Pujols spit on two of the officers. He was arrested for throwing bodily fluids. Pujols was released into the care of the hospital with a summons and a court date.

3. On August 29, 2025, at approximately 6:25 a.m., Police Officers Daniela Simone and Jaydan Gonzalez responded to Hudson Flowers, 92 Hudson St., on reports of an individual sleeping in the vestibule. They located the individual, later identified as 37-year-old Junior Exantus of Jersey City, who had already been warned not to sleep in the vestibule. He was issued a summons for defiant trespassing and released on the scene.

4. On August 29, 2025, at approximately 3:35 p.m. Police Officers Adrian Comayagua and William Vera responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to take custody of 48-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Avila of Union City from Weehawken Police Officers who transported him into the city. Gonzalez-Avila had warrants out of Hoboken for lewdness and obstruction. He was processed and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

5. On August 29, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Rose Kanan responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was in custody of store security. Upon arrival, they learned the actor, later identified as 36-year-old Rene Blas of Jersey City, had tried to walk out of the store without paying for approximately $134 worth of merchandise. Blas was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting. She was released with a summons and court date.

6. On August 30, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Police Officers John Rodriguez and Tyrone Huggins responded to Bluemercury, 230 Washington St., on reports of a shoplifting. An on-scene investigation revealed a woman walked into the store, put several items into a bag, and left without paying. The total amount of merchandise taken was $127. Officer Huggins located a woman who fit the description of the actor at the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield Street. A positive identification was made, and the woman, identified as 58-year-old Shirley Teran of Hoboken, was arrested. A search incident to arrest located items taken from the store in her bag. Teran was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting. After being processed, she was released from custody with a summons.

7. On August 31, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., Police Officers Marvin De Jesus and Brian Kim responded to the 700 block of Bloomfield Street on reports of a car crash involving several parked vehicles. Upon arrival, they located the vehicle that hit the others, approached the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Briahanna Brito of West New York, and immediately smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Brito was asked to exit the car and her speech was slurred. It was determined she had hit six other vehicles. Police Officer Daniela Simone arrived on the scene to perform a standardized field sobriety test after which Brito was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she refused to submit to breath testing. She was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, refusal to consent to taking of breath samples, refusal to submit to breath testing, and leaving the scene of an accident. As per John’s Law, Brito was released into the custody of a responsible party.

8. On August 31, 2025, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Police Officers Donovan Ortiz and Nicklas Valerious were flagged down by two individuals at the intersection of Washington and First Streets. The individuals reported one of them had been touched inappropriately on the buttocks, by a man on an e-bike, who then rode off. During the on-scene investigation, the actor returned to the area, and the victim pointed him out to officers. The man was identified as 22-year-old Antonio Tzaj of Jersey City and he was placed under arrest for criminal sexual contact. Tzaj was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released with a summons and a court date.

9. On August 31, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Police Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting, where the actor was in custody of store security. An on-scene investigation revealed the actor, later identified as 39- year-old Oriana Jackson of Hoboken, tried to leave the store after paying for only part of the groceries in her bags. She was stopped by security at the exit, with approximately $191 worth of unpaid items. Jackson was arrested for shoplifting, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released with a summons.

10. On September 2, 2025, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Rose Kanan responded to a call for a possible dispute on the 300 block of Harrison Street. During the on-scene investigation it was discovered that one of the parties involved, identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Walker of Hoboken, had a warrant with the Hudson County Sheriff's Office. He was located and placed under arrest on the warrant for terroristic threats issued. He was later transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

11. On September 2, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Police Officers Valentino Salgado, John Rodriguez, and Michael Chen, responded to the area of Hudson Place and River Street on reports of a dispute between a taxi driver and patron where one of the individuals made threats and was in possession of a sharp object. An on-scene investigation determined that during an argument over payment, the taxi driver, later identified as 60-year-old Teofilo Ramirez of Union City, threatened another person with scissors. A pair of scissors were found on the passenger seat of his car. Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Christopher Soto and Stephen Chowanec arrived on the scene to assist. Ramirez was arrested for making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released from police custody with a summons.

12. On September 3, 2025, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Police Officers Christopher Soto and Stephen Chowanec responded to CVS, 59 Washington St., on reports of a shoplifting. The actor, later identified as 48-year-old Terrence Sheppard of Bayonne, was still in the store. When he walked toward the exit, without paying for multiple items in his possession, he was placed under arrest for shoplifting. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and it was discovered he had active warrants out of Union City and Bayonne. After being processed on the shoplifting charges, Sheppard was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

13. On September 3, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Sgt. William Collins, and Detective Connor Mine and Fabian Quinones responded to a building at Marineview Plaza to arrest 41- year-old David Amaya of Hoboken for creating a false public alarm on August 31. An investigation revealed that on that date, Amaya waved an open flame while walking in a public area of his residential building, causing the fire alarms to activate and a fire department response, which included road closure and an evacuation of the building. Amaya was charged with arson, causing or risking widespread injury or damage and false public alarms. On Sept. 3, he was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed on the charges, and released from custody.
