News Update from the Mayor

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

ACEing Autism kicked off its fall season at the JCC meeting Sundays at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm, and continuing for the next several weeks. ACEing helps children benefit from social connections, fitness and fun. If you are interested in signing up your child ages 5 to 18 to participate, or if high school students and adults want to volunteer, please email kaplenjcc@ACEingautism.org. No tennis experience is required.

The Tenafly Library Friends are pleased to present their 1st concert of the year this Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 pm in the library. It will feature Nelson Riveros Latin Jazz, a community favorite. In addition, after the concert, the Friends will host their annual Cider Social in the McCandless Room. Come join us for Fall treats, learn more about our group, raffle prizes, and more. A fun event!

October brings hands-on creativity and autumn magic to the Nature Center! On October 4, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, unleash your artistic side at Crafty Critters. Meet a live Animal Ambassador and create your own critter-inspired masterpiece. Every Sunday this month, join in for Apple Cider Making, help press apples, savor fresh cider, and celebrate this classic fall tradition. Multiple sessions available.

As Halloween nears, prepare for the Haunted Forest on October 26: enjoy nocturnal animal encounters, campfire treats, crafts, and games for all ages from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Discover the joys of the season. Register now at tenaflynaturecenter.org!

The Presbyterian Church presents its Fall For Music Festival, this Saturday, October 4, beginning at 3 pm with a fun kids sing-along workshop. Then at 4:00 pm enjoy live music and family friendly games with Nik Rael & Friends on the music stage. All free of charge. Then at 6:00 pm it’s fish and chips (or chicken and chips) $20 per person, $10 per child. Please RSVP to 201-567-0111. Finally, at 7:00 pm experience Tenafly's own Hart Family Showcase in the sanctuary at 55 Magnolia Avenue. Free of charge, donations welcome.

The Kaplan JCC on the Palisades is excited to announce their Teen Fellowship Program. This program running from October 2025 through May 2026 isn’t just another course; it’s a launchpad designed for teens in high school ready to step up, stand out, and spark change. SAVE THE DATE!! The Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 am to Noon. Everyone is invited! This event will take place at the Tenafly Senior Center. There will be face painting and activities for all! Tickets will be sold prior to the event and at the door. Adults $8.00 Kids $5.00.

Meet the Artist: New York City based artist Gwyneth Leech brings her incredible paintings of Manhattan to Tenafly, and gives a "tour" of her stunning interior murals which transformed St Mary's Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland. Free admission at the Presbyterian Church, Sunday, October 26 at 4:00 pm.

Calling all singers! Join the Tenafly Community Choir and Orchestra singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Rutter’s What Sweeter Music, and Vaughan Williams’ Christmas Day and secular music of the season. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm starting October 28 in preparation for the concert on December 14 at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals at 55 Magnolia Avenue. RSVP 201-567-0111.
