Theft
09/30/2025-Officers responded to 554 Bloomfield Avenue (USMC Recruiting Center) on report of a Bicycle Theft. A male left his bicycle in front of the building while he went inside and when he returned he noticed it was missing. The bicycle was valued at $200.00. This incident is under investigation.

10/01/2025-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, the same group of high school students took several Red Bull drinks and cosmetic items on three separate occasions and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $26.16. This incident is under investigation.

10/01/2025-Johnathan Chapel age 38 of Irvington, NJ. Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreen’s) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a male took four laundry detergents and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $43.96. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

10/01/2025-Officers responded to the area of Montgomery Street on report of a Theft. A resident provided surveillance video footage of a male walking onto the front porch of the residence and taking a pair of used Nike sneakers. The sneakers were valued at $300.00. This incident is under investigation.

10/01/2025-Matthew Febus age 32 of Newark, NJ. Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Advance Auto Parts) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the complainant, a male took a car battery and left the store without paying. The item was valued at $99.00. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

10/01/2025-Officers responded to 574 Bloomfield Avenue (Six Points Pub) on report of a Theft. According to the complainant, when he arrived at work he observed two males syphoning used fryer oil from the oil trap into a tank. The oil was valued at $100.00. This incident is under investigation.

10/02/2025-Larry Clemmons age 64 of Newark, NJ and Wanda Ollie age 49 of Bloomfield, NJ. Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a male took two scented candles and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $26.98. Officers were able to locate the suspects nearby and placed them under arrest. The suspects were transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

10/03/2025-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Bicycle Theft. A male left his e-bicycle outside while he went inside the store and when he returned, he noticed it was missing. The bicycle was valued at $400.00. This incident is under investigation.

10/04/2025-Officers responded to the area of Franklin Street on report of a Theft of a Package. A resident provided surveillance video footage of a male taking a package then walking into the elevator. The package contained kids clothing and valued at $113.66. This incident is under investigation.

10/05/2025-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male attempted to exit the store with various grocery items without paying. When approached, the male left the items and fled the area. The items were valued at $93.00. This incident is under investigation.

10/05/2025-Officers responded to 10 Franklin Street (Children’s Place) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a male filled a reusable bag with various clothing items and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $600.00. This incident is under investigation.

Motor Vehicle Theft
09/30/2025-Justin Armstrong age 34 of Newark, NJ. Officers responded to 600 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar General) on report of a Shoplifting. When Officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot with the proceeds and attempted to take control of a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. Officers placed the suspect under arrest and transported him to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

09/30/2025-Officers responded to 2 Bloomfield Avenue (Chop Sticks) on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle parked and running while he went inside the restaurant. When he returned, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a white 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Burglary
10/01/2025-Officers responded to the area of Park Avenue on report of an Attempted Burglary. The complainant left his apartment at approximately 1:00p.m., and when he returned at 4:00p.m., he noticed pry marks on the front door near the dead bolt. This incident is under investigation.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
