Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
The Korean Community Services center at 100 Grove Street is hosting a Community, Wellness and Cultural Festival this Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Enjoy Korean Music performances from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, and the all day Health EXPO including a mental health seminar, adult and youth cultural programs, delicious food and snacks, along with health screenings, flu shots, and a community fair with clothing, jewelry, and cosmetics.
Autumn discoveries and family traditions continue at the Nature Center. This weekend, October 11 and 12, team up for the Seasonal Scavenger Hunt. Solve nature riddles and uncover the wonders of the trails together. Every Sunday, savor the season with Apple Cider Making. Lend a hand with the press and enjoy crisp, fresh cider. And get ready for Halloween with the Haunted Forest on October 26 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm: meet live nocturnal animals, make crafts, and celebrate fall with friends and family. The Tenafly Library Friends are thrilled to present their second concert this month on Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 pm at the library. Come enjoy the very talented clarinet quartet, Metamorphic Winds. This group is a Tenafly fan favorite and sure to be one you don't want to miss. And on Tuesday, October 14 at 1:00 pm in the library, the Tenafly Library Friends will be screening the film, A Thousand and One as part of the Tuesday Afternoon Matinee movie series. This is a 2023 award winning drama film about a woman who kidnaps her son from the foster care system to build a new life together. Both the concert and movie are free of charge to everyone.
Mark your calendars — Join us in downtown Tenafly for the Fall Festival coming up on Sunday, October 19! Kick off the day with Pilates in the Park in honor of Jeanne Rivkin at 11:00 am in Huyler Park, then join the main event from Noon to 5:00 PM for live music, food, activities, and fall fun for all ages. Don’t forget to wear your costume. The Costume Contest features three exciting categories: Best Group, Most Original, and Best DIY Costume.
The Kaplan JCC on the Palisades is excited to announce their Teen Fellowship Program. This program running from October 2025 through May 2026 is a launchpad designed for teens in high school ready to step up, stand out, and spark change. This experience goes beyond the classroom and features hands-on workshops, real talk with inspiring mentors, and a crew of peers who want to make an impact just like you. SAVE THE DATE!! The Senior Center Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 am to Noon. Everyone is invited. There will be face painting and activities for all. Tickets will be sold prior to the event and at the door. Adults $8.00 Kids $5.00.
Meet the Artist: NYC based artist Gwyneth Leech brings her incredible paintings of Manhattan to Tenafly, and gives a "tour" of her stunning interior murals which transformed St Mary's Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland. Free admission at the Presbyterian Church, Sunday October 26 at 4:00 pm. No sign up needed.
Calling all singers! Join the Tenafly Community Choir and Orchestra singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Rutter’s What Sweeter Music, and Vaughan Williams’ Christmas Day and secular music of the season. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm starting October 28 in preparation for concert on December 14 at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals and concert at the Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia Avenue. Light The Night, Thursday, November 6 at 6:00 pm. Join us for a moving evening of light, remembrance and community at Light the Night, a special luminary event dedicated to bringing hope and healing. Together we will honor loved ones, celebrate resilience, and shine light.
