Travon Gantt
During a road rage incident on October 20, 2025 at approximately 8:30 A.M. it was alleged that a male operating a grey Nissan brandished a firearm magazine, while after threatening to shoot the other driver involved in the incident, that occurred while they were travelling on Route 3 East.
Secaucus Police Officer Justin Machno observed the fleeing Nissan on Route 3 East. Police Officer Machno, with the assistance of other patrol officers, stopped the vehicle and detained the driver and sole occupant, identified as Travon Gantt, 25, of East Orange.
After being positively identified as the man who threatened the other driver, his vehicle was searched. During the search of Travon Gantt’s vehicle a rifle magazine loaded with 5.56 caliber rounds was located within the passenger compartment. Additionally, a Smith and Wesson M & P Rifle and a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun were also located, along with numerous rounds of rifle and shotgun ammunition. Travon Gantt was then placed under arrest.
“I am thankful that what could have been a volatile incident did not result in any injuries to the public or my officers,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “The responding officers responded both professionally and with courage while confronting a person reported to have been armed and I am proud of them.”
Travon Gantt was charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4a(1)] and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Rifle/Shotgun [2C:39-5c(1)]. He was lodged in the Hudson County Jail. These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
