Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, and East Orange Public Safety Director Maurice Boyd announced today an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in East Orange.
On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at about 12:40pm East Orange Police officers were dispatched to the area of 252-256 N. Clinton Street on a report of a male, lying in the street, possibly suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had suffered a gunshot to the chest/back area. Officers administered aid while awaiting EMS. The victim was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 1:06pm. The victim is identified as Hamza Abdul-Haqq, 36, of East Orange.
