The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has charged a 61-year-old male in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Jersey City on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Roberto Camacho, of Jersey City, is charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1)/(2), Felony Murder (during the commission of a robbery) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3), and Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1). He was arrested at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, where he has been detained since the crime occurred.
Shortly after 12:20 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a stabbing in the area of Jersey Avenue, 1st Street, and Maxwell Street. Responding officers located an injured male – later identified as Joan Segovia, 26 – with an apparent stab wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 1 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be a Stab Wound to the Chest and the Manner to be Homicide.
Acting Prosecutor Mello credited the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
