Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

In addition to the Rotary Club’s food collection box, located between Stop & Shop and Celebrity Bagels, Tenafly has also organized a food drive. Donations can be dropped off in our public library lobby. The donations will be delivered to the Center for Food Action in Englewood.

The Tenafly Library Friends are presenting a concert this Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 pm in the library. Cellist, Alex Prizgintas, will be performing A Salute to Broadway. It is free and no registration is required. Then on Tuesday, November 4 at 1:00 pm in the library, the Friends will screen the award winning film Frida, the story of renowned artist, Frida Kahlo.

November brings creativity and adventure to the Nature Center! Kick off the month with Crafty Critters on Saturday, November 1, where you will meet an Animal Ambassador and make your own nature-inspired craft. Young explorers can join Autumn Break Camp on November 6 and 7 for hikes, crafts, and outdoor fun. Then enjoy the Seasonal Scavenger Hunt on November 8 and 9 with family-friendly trail challenges. Join us at the Senior Center for a unique “Light the Night Event” on Thursday, November 6 at 6:00 pm. Visit the center to buy a luminary bag that you can personalize in honor of, in memory of, or in celebration of someone or something special. Each bag costs $5.00. Tenafly Rotary, in cooperation with New Level Rotary in Kharkiv, Ukraine and NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief, is asking our community to support an urgent humanitarian initiative to provide relief to the people of Kharkiv. They will be hosting a presentation on November 12 at 7:30 in the Media Center at Tenafly High School to provide more information about this vital project.

Celebrate 75 Years of Community at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. The JCC has been a pillar of connection, wellness, and inclusion in our region for generations, and the 75th anniversary celebration is a wonderful opportunity for residents and businesses to show support and be recognized. Join in for an unforgettable evening of celebration and connections as four pillars of the community are honored; Dr. Sandra Gold, Edward Grossman, Daniel Rubin, and Pearl Seiden, on Saturday, November 15 at the JCC. A special event with world class artists, pianist Vassily Primakov and violinist Filip Pogady are joined by cellist and Artistic Director Ani Kalayjian for the first of the new Carriage House Concerts series in a passionate program of works by Tchaikovsky, Arensky and more! Calling all singers! Join the Tenafly Community Choir and Orchestra singing excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Rutter’s What Sweeter Music, and Vaughan Williams’ Christmas Day and secular music of the season.
