Theft
10/27/2025-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took
several packages of batteries and left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $156.93. This incident is under investigation.
10/27/2025-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on
report of a Theft. According to the complainant, her purse and wallet
were taken from her shopping cart while she was shopping. The purse
contained her Driver’s License, several credit cards and $50.00. This
incident is under investigation.
10/27/2025-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to an employee, a male concealed
three packs of Reese’s candy and one Snapple and left the store without
paying. The items were valued at $13.00. This incident is under
investigation.
10/27/2025-Anaya Campbell-Odom age 21 from East Orange NJ.
Officers responded to the area of Lackawanna Plaza on report of a
Package Theft. The complainant observed a female running from the
area of Farrand Street with packages. The complainant confronted the
female, who was later apprehended by Officers. Several packages that
were addressed to 30 Farrand Street (The Royal) were recovered on
the suspect. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to
Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
10/28/2025-Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male concealed various grocery items in a tote bag and attempted to
leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $108.48. The
Loss Prevention Officer was able to retrieve the items, however, the
suspect fled the scene. This incident is under investigation.
10/29/2025-Officers responded to 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male took a
bottle of tequila and left the store without paying. The item was valued
at $42.99. This incident is under investigation.
10/29/2025-Wayne Austin age 53 from East Orange NJ. Officers
responded to 600 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar General) on report of a
Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male filled two reusable
bags with merchandise and left the store without paying. The items were
valued at $145.10. Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and
placed him under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield
Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
10/29/2025-Jose Batista age 34 from Newark NJ. Officers observed a
male in the area of 2 Bloomfield Avenue with a Home Depot shopping
cart. The suspect was placed under arrest for Shoplifting and transported
to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
10/30/2025-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Dollar
Tree) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male
took snacks and electronics and left the store without paying. The items
were valued at $90.00. This incident is under investigation.
10/31/2025-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (No. 1
Chinese Restaurant) on report of a Theft. The complainant, who works
for Uber Eats, left his bicycle outside the restaurant and when he
returned, it was missing. The bicycle was rented from an app and was
valued at $2700.00. This incident is under investigation.
11/01/2025-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took a welding machine and left the store without paying. The item
was valued at $1134.00. This incident is under investigation.
11/01/2025-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on
report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a
male took an electric heater and left the store without paying. The item
was valued at $89.97. This incident is under investigation.
11/02/2025-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens)
on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male filled
reusable bags with laundry detergents and left the store without paying.
The items were valued at $67.92. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
10/28/2025-Officers responded to the 100 block of Thomas Street on
report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident was alerted by
his security cameras that there was motion in his driveway and the
vehicle alarm was going off. The resident then observed a male
unsuccessfully attempting to push the driver’s window down on his
vehicle. The vehicle was a white 2022 BMW X3. This incident is under
investigation.
11/02/2025-Officers responded to 460 Franklin Street on report of a
Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant lost her car keys shortly after
parking her vehicle. When she returned to where she parked, she noticed
the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a white 2011 Chevy Malibu, was
entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.
Burglary
10/27/2025-Officers responded to the area of Summit Avenue on
report of a Burglary. According to the resident, pry marks were
observed on the rear door to the residence. There was no entry made into
the residence. This incident is under investigation.
10/29/2025-Officers responded to 106 Montgomery Street on report of
a Burglary. The complainant noticed several construction materials
missing from the property. Surveillance video showed two males load
the materials into a black pickup truck. The materials were valued at
$300.00. This incident is under investigation.
10/31/2025-Officers responded to 104 Orange Street (Extra Self-Storage) on report of a Burglary. The complainant left her storage unit
closed but unlocked on 10/29/2025 and when she returned on
10/31/2025, she noticed several boxes were missing. The boxes
contained printing press equipment valued at $2540.00. This incident is
under investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to
the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The
