Maywood Man Charged with Aggravated Assault and Child Abuse

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 45-year-old WILLIAM B. MACGRAY of Maywood, NJ on aggravated assault and child abuse charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Maywood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny.

On Monday, November 3, 2025, the Maywood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an incident of alleged child abuse that had occurred in Maywood, NJ. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Maywood Police Department revealed that WILLIAM B. MACGRAY physically assaulted and abused a juvenile in Maywood, NJ on or about Sunday, November 2, 2025.

On Monday, November 3, 2025, as a result of the investigation, WILLIAM B. MACGRAY was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2); and third-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(7).

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, MACGRAY was located and arrested. MACGRAY was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, made a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ, and was ordered released pending further court action.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Maywood Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
