Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 44-year-old ANDREW LABRUNO of Dumont, NJ (employed as a Sergeant with the Jersey City Police Department) on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Englewood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.
On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that had occurred in Englewood, NJ. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that ANDREW LABRUNO, a stranger to the victim, engaged in conversation with the juvenile on a social media application, and made arrangements to meet. LABRUNO then sexually assaulted and endangered the juvenile at the juvenile’s residence in Englewood, NJ, while the juvenile was home alone.
As a result of the investigation, on November 17, 2025, ANDREW LABRUNO was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(7); second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1); and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). LABRUNO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
