Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the additional arrest of 28-year-old DAIKER YAIR RIVERO URBANO of Detroit, MI and criminal charges filed against 26-year-old CHRISTIAN RICARDO VERA CASTILLO of Brooklyn, NY, in relation to an armed robbery in Maywood, NJ in 2024. This latest development is the result of additional investigation that has spanned a total of nineteen months by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Maywood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny.
As previously reported on November 1, 2024, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of four men: BEIKER A. AGUILERA AREYAN; DANIEL A. RIVAS-ALVARADO; YEISON J. AMARANTE BOLIVAR; and JHON C. REQUENA YERENA on charges stemming from an armed robbery that occurred in Maywood, NJ on April 23, 2024. More specifically, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad was notified by the Maywood Police Department of an armed robbery that occurred at a jewlery store on West Pleasant Avenue in Maywood in which two male suspects entered the business and brandished firearms, pointing them at an employee and customer who were inside the store. One of the suspects grabbed the employee and a brief struggle ensued. Ultimately, the two suspects fled the store, leaving behind duct tape and zip ties.
Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene and initiated a joint investigation with the Maywood Police Department. As the investigation progressed, detectives determined that several additional suspects were involved in the planning and execution of the armed robbery. As part of the conspiracy, the suspects utilized two moped-style motorcycles, as well as a motor vehicle, to travel to and from the scene of the armed robbery. Following a months-long, nationwide investigation in 2024, detectives were able to identify, arrest, and charge BEIKER A. AGUILERA AREYAN; DANIEL A. RIVAS-ALVARADO; YEISON J. AMARANTE BOLIVAR; and JHON C. REQUENA YERENA as four of the suspects involved in the armed robbery. All four men – some of whom had left the region – were located, arrested, and charged accordingly between June 2024 and October 2024. Since then, as previously reported, three of the men remain in custody in the Bergen County Jail. The fourth defendant, YEISON J. AMARANTE BOLIVAR, remains held by Florida authorities, pending extradition back to Bergen County, NJ.
Following those arrests, detectives continued the investigation. After months of additional work, DAIKER YAIR RIVERO URBANO and CHRISTIAN RICARDO VERA CASTILLO were also identified by detectives as suspects in the armed robbery. Accordingly, DAIKER YAIR RIVERO URBANO was charged with two counts of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/ N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1). CHRISTIAN RICARDO VERA CASTILLO was charged with two counts of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1)/ N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).
Initial attempts to locate DAIKER YAIR RIVERO URBANO were unsuccessful. However, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and agents from U.S. Customs & Border Protection, RIVERO URBANO was located and apprehended in Detroit, MI. On November 19, 2025, RIVERO URBANO was extradited back to Bergen County, NJ and is currently detained in the Bergen County Jail.
Attempts to locate and arrest CHRISTIAN RICARDO VERA CASTILLO have thus far been unsuccessful, and he remains a fugitive from justice.
