Local Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Phillipsburg Shooting

On Friday, November 21, 2025, Andrew Weaver was sentenced in Warren County Superior Court by the Honorable H. Matthew Curry,J.S.C. on an Indictment charging Aggravated Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1) and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (handgun), N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), both crimes of the second degree. Weaver plead guilty to these charges. Pursuant to statute, Weaver was sentenced to seven (7) years in New Jersey State Prison. Prior to Weaver being eligible for parole, he must serve 85% of the sentence.

By way of background, on August 3, 2025, members of the Phillipsburg Police Department responded to the 400 block of Anderson Street after receiving an alert from Phillipsburg’s ShotSpotter. Upon arrival, patrols discovered a suspect had fired several shots at a residence, one of which penetrated through a window, not striking anyone. Video footage of the area identified the shooter as, Andrew R. Weaver. Weaver was criminally charged and entered as a wanted person in the National Crime Information Center database.

On the same date, the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Weaver, after a motor vehicle stop was conducted on a car he was a passenger in. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock 9mm handgun.

The investigation was conducted by the Phillipsburg Police Department.
